The Reveal: The Themeless Nursery

September 13, 2010 at 7:40 am 39 comments

I’ve been talking about the nursery for months. You’ve given advice, links, and opinions. You’ve asked for pictures several hundred times and have been (semi) patient when I told you to wait. Now the day is finally here. I’m going to show you Jansen’s room.

There is so much love in this room. I’m not a decorator, I will never pretend to be. But I think this room rocks. People tipped their heads in concern when I said I wanted to paint the walls bright green. They hesitated when I said I wanted to take off the closet doors and hang turquoise curtains. But I had a vision. A vision of bright colors that didn’t include farm animals or trucks or footballs. A nursery without a theme. I am 100% satisfied with the way it turned out!

Many many thanks to Lauren for taking pictures of the nursery last weekend while I was sleeping. She took some fantastic pictures. There will be a changing pad on the dresser but that was in our room since Jansen is currently sleeping in a bassinet by our bed.

Enjoy!

I love the dark brown against the green, possibly my favorite color combination. But the closet has to be my favorite part of the room. Looks like little Jansen is going to be pret-ty stylish!

Love the colors, it’s a room you would not tire of sitting in or looking at, great job, and you could do so many other things as he grows.

sheesh, we couldn’t get one more picture of Jansen? ;P

Great job! It looks wonderful and I love that color combo together.

I have seriously bought 10000000 million baby gifts this year and was suffering from major gender/sport/animal theme overload so this seems like the perfect nursery to me.

  • 9. Angela  |  September 13, 2010 at 9:21 am

yayyyyyy! I finally get to see The Nursery!
Well…You know me and bright colors! You know Sophie’s room (and my whole house is all about bright colors! Sooooooooo….I absolutely LOVE Jansen’s room. I could hang out in there all day. Is this your favorite room of the house? I think it would be for me. I especially love that stylish diaper bag hanging up in the room (LOL!). Seriously – the details are fabulous (except someone misspelled diaper cloths). Jansen is gonna be such an even tempered person with all the warmth coming from his nursery. It’s just lovely – it REALLY is. I can’t wait to see it in person with a little one in the crib!

  • 29. mom (nana)  |  September 13, 2010 at 10:25 pm

burp cloths….how did we miss that??? Or maybe it IS burp CLOTHES – stuff he wears when he wants to burp! :)

I love your no theme nursery. We took the closet doors off of our nursery closet too and are going to use curtains. So, you aren’t alone! It’s a great idea.

  • 37. Mandy  |  September 15, 2010 at 6:50 am

Great job! Looks so much better than the themed nurseries I’ve seen. :-) I think you do have a little decorator in you somewhere, and you have given me hope that my inner decorator might show up one of these days and help me with my living room and bedroom!

Where did you find your chair?

  • 38. abby  |  September 15, 2010 at 1:59 pm

  • 39. april  |  September 28, 2010 at 5:43 pm

Okay, so I’m completely late to the party but I love the nursery. I’ve been ho-hum on finishing mine (my son came 2 weeks earlier than yours) but your nursery gave me some great ideas for mine and I might go out and get supplies tomorrow to finish! Thanks! :)
