Loser Week 1: Jillian Needs to Wash Her #$*@% Mouth Out With Soap

September 16, 2009 at 9:00 am 22 comments

Oh dear, it’s 9:55 pm and I’m just now starting the DVR. I had a meeting tonight that went until about 8:40 and then Stephen and I have spent the last hour discussing the state of the church. Not a topic to discuss quickly or while some parties are wanting to watch Biggest Loser. But none of that matters to you because I don’t post this until the morning anyways.

We began with all of the contestants on a bus and we heard some of their stories. They pulled to the side of the road and met Alison and they were all so excited. I felt sorry for them a little bit. Why are you so excited? Haven’t you seen this show? Don’t you know that you are minutes away from sweat and vomit? So the first challenge began. But not without the first surprise. Daniel from last season’s orange team showed up. We at home already knew this. I was really hoping that Mike’s brother was going to show up but the head honchos at NBC apparently didn’t think that would be so cool. Anyways. The first challenge, they had to run (or walk) a mile. Whoever crossed the finish line first got immunity and got to pick their partner. It was a rough challenge for most of these contestants. Dan won, of course. But in an unplanned shocking start that probably made the producer’s giddy, two people had to go to the hospital. Never a dull moment!

So then they head back to the ranch for some quality meet and greet time. You know, a little story time. “My name is (insert name). My (insert family member) let me down by (insert circumstance). And now I’m (insert number) pounds.” After story time, they paired up into teams and weighed in. Goodness gracious, there are some large folk this season. Which is to be expected, Biggest Loser always outdoes itself. And of course my heart breaks for these people, also to be expected.

The first workout is always my favorite. Between the first workout and the last chance workout, there were gallons of vomit spewed. Thunderstorms of tears were shed. They screamed and cried and fell and Shay walked out. And Jillian cussed. A lot. She channelled her inner sailor and let the f-words fly. It was terribly offensive to someone like me who’s mouth is Zestfully clean. But I fear that this is a preview of what’s to come. Ladies and gents, this is hardly a family show anymore.

It’s really too soon for you to get all of my sarcastic and opinionated thoughts. Too many contestants and not enough time for me to judge them. I will say this though. I think I’m going to like the orange team and the red team. And the green team. And maybe the gray team. Ugh, what do I know. One could turn into Helen or Joelle in an instant. I’m sure I’ll have much more entertaining comments next week.

The weigh-in was fantastic. I always love the first weigh-in because the contestants lose more weight than they’ve ever lost. You see a glimmer of hope in their eyes. I’d probably have shed a few tears throughout the episode if it weren’t for the comments from the peanut gallery, otherwise known as Stephen and my dad.

The black team was below the yellow line. Alexandra was snooty about it and didn’t act like a very good teammate. Julio probably didn’t work as hard as most of the other contestants this week, as made evident by his 13 pound weight loss. But there is something about him that makes you want him succeed. Thankfully, four of the seven teams agreed with me and voted Alexandra to go home. Tears and hugs all around. The have no idea how hard this is going to get…

Jillian… Good gosh!!! I think if she swallowed a gallon of soap she would still be cussing like a sailor! It was bad… but overall, it was good. I LOVE TBL 🙂

Oh my goodness. I missed the memo! I didn’t know Biggest Loser was back already!!

I did not agree with the vote last night, I did not thank that it was fair, because Julio should have done better, but it seemed to work out well for Alexandria, she looked great.
Curious who she has a crush on.
I wish they would just send the person with the lowest percentage home and stop with the votes. Drama, I know.
I agree with the cursing, what is all that about? Too much, just edit it out please.
Weight loss was amazing. Great show, great start, I am excited.

    “think”, not thank. lol

Agree about Jillian although, I am not surprised about her “saltiness”. If Bob said I would be more shocked. And I too hoped for Mike’s brother. Oh well. I have not decided who I like yet, it takes me a while.

I appreciate the “good cop/ bad cop” thing they have going on. But I do agree that Jillian can be firm without needing to beep every other word! 🙂 thanks for the comment on my blog! Your blog template is really sharp!

I think Jillian is trying too hard to be a hard ass and live up to this reputation she thinks she has. I don’t like it.

I didn’t get a chance to watch it last night but I hope to see it next week. I love the biggest loser but I don’t think I will be as big of a fan if the language gets bad! Thanks for the heads up though!

We always watched BL as a family (and, in a complete contradiction, ate pizza while viewing). But Jillian’s mouth!?!? We could do without so much of it!

  • 10. Amber Warren  |  September 16, 2009 at 1:42 pm

I am ashamed to admit that my 2 year old son was watching Biggest Loser with me and my husband last night. It’s usually so clean!! We always wait until he goes to bed before watching our shows, but I thought for sure BL would be family-friendly. I was really shocked and embarrassed that both Bob and Jillian swore so much. Is it going to be like that the whole season? That will be sad.

So far I like all the contestants except Julio. I can’t believe you’re siding with him! Did you LOL when they rolled the tape of all the times he fell over all dramatically? He was such a pansy.

I cried when I heard that woman’s story about losing her family in the car accident. I like her already. She sounds southern and so nice. I hope she wins.

I wonder when the “girl that crawled in the sand” will come back from the hospital? That was crazy – she started off too fast I guess.

The whole show reminded me of how much I should be working out. That’s my goal today…

i agree about Jillian and was wondering what the youth pastor from Tulsa was thinking…i think there is another person from Oklahoma on the show, which does not surprise me. did you know that there is only 3 health food stores in Oklahoma city and TONS of fast food chains.

i did love that they brought Daniel back he has such a great attitude! I am happy with Alexandra leaving and it was good for her b/c at the end she looked great and was getting her mom to go to the gym with her and she has a lot of determination to be able to do this at her home. Julio needs to be there, obviously, b/c he only lost 13 pounds he needs this.

I want them to do an update on the top 3 from last year minus Helen. and the past winners. that would be nice.

i am getting excited about this season!!!

OMG! totally agree about the filth and foul that was spewed from Jillian last night as my girls and i watched! In my head I’m thinking- maybe not so much for the children to see anymore! Maybe I should let NBC know how I feel, don’t know if it will do any good though. How did you NOT cry when Abby shared her story?? I was sobbing and again the girls are wondering why? Can’t wait for the next episode!!!

Jillian needs to take a BIG BITE of soap!

  • 14. Maureen  |  September 16, 2009 at 8:30 pm

I was crying while listening to the woman who lost her entire family and she said she wasn’t scared to die. It was heartbreaking. I’d want to die. Then on a lighter note (no pun intended), I pulled on my very old and worn pj bottoms, grabbed the oatmeal raisin cookie John got me from La Madeline, and proceeded to sit down on the couch to watch Biggest Loser. As I plopped on the couch, and took a bite of the cookie, I heard a big RIPPPPP! Yes, my pj bottoms ripped…so so sad.

I love watching super fat people sweat, throw-up, cry uncontrollably because of their messed up hormones caused by their bad diets and lack of balanced excercise, and eventually lose all self-respect and pride because they realize that they are super fat, it’s essentially their fault for the most part, and that all an attitude will get them is more time on the treadmill (end of super fat sentence).

I have to admit I did cry a little watching Abby’s story. I just imagined myself losing my wife to a tragedy like that and It made me sad. 😦 I think I might write to NBC about the foul language in the show. It was a bit over the top. Being in the military, its not something I hadn’t heard quite a bit of before (like everyday), but isn’t this supposed to be a family show?

@The Husband: I now know why she calls you part of the peanut gallery. 🙂

I can’t belive you like Julio! Of course Alexandra was snotty and angry… her idiotic partner who fell over 347 times in the first week lost a much lower percent of weight than she did!!!!!!

I am SO happy the brough Daniel back. He is going to ROCk this season. I already kinda hope he wins.

I LOVE Abby! She has an amazing attitude… and she made Jillian cry. That is awesome.

I think Jillian has probably always screamed and cursed that much. I think they just showed it more this season because people love her even though she appears evil on the show. Bob wasnt exactly sugar and spice… he dropped several F Bombs too. Or I assume they were F Bombs… he could have been saying “apple” for all we know since they were blurred and bleeped.

I cried a couple of times last night. I kept thinking about how amazing these people are. They are going on national television and showing their vulnurabilities, and telling their stories. They are so brave to make such a dramatic change in front of the entire world!!!

  • […] it last night. I am not going to recap the whole show, because Chelsea did a good job of that in her blog post yesterday. I will, however, say that I was CRYING within the first 15 minutes of the show. It’s really […]

    love the biggest loser!

  • 20. mom  |  September 18, 2009 at 12:26 pm

WRITE NBC and send them your blog – the language is ridiculous and soooo unnecessary! It USE to be a family show and now I can’t even stand to watch that! Yes, I’m a prude but so what….sounds like several people who commented are too! I told you to get kleenex – soooooo touching and sooooo sad when you heard some of those stories. On to next week….

  • 21. Jodi  |  September 18, 2009 at 7:50 pm

Found you through Linda (2nd Cup of Coffee)…Saw that you wrote about one of my favorite shows, The Biggest Loser.

Shay and Abby are my favorites. I’m so glad Julio stayed. He has to get better for his little kids. Alexandra was not very nice.

By the way, I wanted to let you know that Mike Morelli’s brother Max could not be on this season because he is under the age of 18. BUT, he is a Facebook friend of mine. He went away to Fitness Ridge in Utah over the summer vacation and he lost 100 pounds!!! So, it is his turn now. Yay!

  • 22. Debbie  |  September 30, 2009 at 3:49 pm
