A Delicious Start to The New Year

January 1, 2010 at 8:09 am 68 comments

Only a couple weeks left of our Christmas-Blogaversary-Giveaway-Blogapalooza. Sad, huh? This week’s item is one of my faves. I’m sure you’ll agree.

I’m sure many of you have added “go out to dinner less, cook more” to your list of New Years Resolutions. While I don’t make New Years Resolutions, I think that’s a pretty good goal any time of the year. It’ll be much more fun to accomplish that goal while wearing this:

Ooooh la la! It could be fun to wear that even when you’re just making a frozen pizza!

That’s our giveaway this week. A cute apron. I’m one of those apron lovers. I have many and I love them all. Basically, I’m an equal opportunity apron owner. I even have one with a cow that lights up. True story, ask my mother-in-law.

But here’s the thing. You may not like light up aprons. (I’m not sure why you wouldn’t… everything is cooler if it sings or lights up!) You also may not like turquoise aprons. (Once again, not sure why you wouldn’t.) So I’ll let you pick your own.

Actually, Boojiboo  (<– that’s a link) will let you pick your own! Want to see a few of my faves?

Hellllo polka dots!

She even has these cute half aprons.

Don’t you love it? It’s very cheery. (This is totally unrelated, but aren’t the backgrounds of her photos ridiculously charming?) And… look… you all know how I feel about damask.

So here’s the deal. One of you will get their apron of choice from Boojiboo’s Etsy shop. All you have to do is enter. Here’s how.

-Leave a comment. Tell me about your favorite apron or your favorite, cute kitchen accessory.
-Blog or tweet about the giveaway.
-Check out Boojiboo’s shop (<– link) and tell me your favorite.

Giveaway starts now and continues until Wednesday night. Good luck chef’s!

Yep, eating in more than I eat out certainly features on my goals list for 2010! So many great ones to choose from. The polka dots would fit right in in our kitchen but I’m a damask girl at heart so going with the Maggie in black and white damask with red. Too cute.

  • 2. Southern Gal  |  January 1, 2010 at 10:04 am

    Happy New Year!

I love those Maggie Vintage styles with the sweetheart neckline. So unique.

For someone who sews and cooks a great deal I have a surprisingly limited number of aprons. The ones I do have were made by my grandmother and I almost hate to wear them and mess them up.

  • 3. Pippy  |  January 1, 2010 at 10:48 am

Omg omg omg, I am in LOVE with those aprons!!!! I need one…or 5. Awesome giveaway! I can’t decide between the polka dots & the damask, but they are all beautiful! I’m going to blog about this giveaway right now! Happy New Year!

  • 4. Kyla Roma  |  January 1, 2010 at 11:35 am

Oh love them! My favourite kitchen accessory is the puppies. They swarm when I’m cooking, it’s like being surrounded by tiny black sharks waiting for their prey (cookie dough) to drop.

My favourite is The Bella because that’s one of my best friend’s nicknames for me =)

  • 5. rachelheather  |  January 1, 2010 at 12:08 pm

Oh my goodness, those are adorable. I love all of them. Those are so pretty!

  • 6. scrapper al  |  January 1, 2010 at 12:16 pm

While “go out to dinner less, cook more” would be good for the pocketbook, I actually would like to go out to dinner more because I like trying new restaurants.

I’m lucky to have two favorite aprons. One made by my roommate years and years ago and one I inherited from my favorite aunt. Both are used regularly and surround me with love when worn.

Boojiboo’s Madison half aprons are so cute! I’d love one for when I’m scrapbooking.

    Happy New Year to you!

  • 7. Kathleen  |  January 1, 2010 at 1:07 pm

Before Christmas I only had a white canvas apron that had a bunch of stains on it. Now I have four! My favorite is one my brother got me from Anthropologie. But I could always use one more!

  • 8. Tabaitha Kaye  |  January 1, 2010 at 1:20 pm

I have an apron addiction. I love the polka dot one the most, but honestly, I loved them all. I can always use one more. It’s like a good pair of shoes, they never go out of style.

  • 9. Amber from Girl with the Red Hair  |  January 1, 2010 at 1:54 pm

You’re a giveaway goddess – I LOVE it. I would totally want the first apron. Love, love, love it!!!!

    Happy New Year 🙂

  • 10. Angela  |  January 1, 2010 at 2:01 pm

I need a cute apron so bad…all I have are cast offs from my boyfriend’s restaurant and a green starbucks apron.
The Betty Blue Cupcake would fit the bill nicely! 🙂

  • 11. Meghan  |  January 1, 2010 at 2:18 pm

I’m not entering, I just wanted to say that I love these aprons so much that I am currently shopping on the site to buy one. I can’t wait!

  • 12. mrssjohnson  |  January 1, 2010 at 4:11 pm

Well I don’t really have a favorite kitchen item because I don’t cook much. But maybe if I had a cute apron I would cook more. In that case, my favorite would have to be the MAGGIE Vintage Inspired Black and White Damask with RED Full Apron

  • 13. Veronica  |  January 1, 2010 at 4:27 pm

it was great hanging out with you yesterday! soooo my favorite apron is one i got from one of my bridesmaids before the wedding. it’s from anthropologie and well it’s very darling. she gave me the apron, waffle mix and a recipe card telling me that I needed to serve Jake breakfast in bed with only the apron on 🙂

  • 14. jen  |  January 1, 2010 at 5:02 pm

i LOVE the damask one! i dont own aprons and probably do not know what to do with one, but it is so cute!!

  • 15. Ashley Brenstein  |  January 1, 2010 at 5:15 pm

wow. i don’t even own an apron and after seeing your blog i’m wishing i’d put that on my christmas list. maybe one of my new year resolutions should be to get an apron and learn to cook more/better

  • 16. Suburban Sweetheart  |  January 1, 2010 at 5:36 pm

I love the damask one. Typically I hate when people enter giveaways and the one they say is their favorite is one of the ones featured in the post, but I’m obsessed with damask & hot pink. And this is amazing. Her stuff is so cute!

  • 17. Jen  |  January 1, 2010 at 5:37 pm

love, love, LOVE these aprons! I wish I would have known about these pre-Christmas … my mom would have been in heaven! There’s always birthday … or just because! 🙂

I love the Vintage Inspired Amy Butler Optic Blossom in Yellow and Gray … except I wish it was in a full apron. Maybe when I win she’ll make me one! 🙂

  • 18. Jenna  |  January 1, 2010 at 6:56 pm

I love aprons! The polka dot one is sooo cute! I’ll definately be checking out the Etsy shop…whether I win or not! I actually have a small collection of aprons – but nothing quite this fabulous. 🙂
    Happy New Year!

  • 19. Courtney  |  January 1, 2010 at 6:57 pm

I don’t have an apron. And boy do I need one. Never fails I end up with grease, oil, or sauce splattered on me.
I love the look of the full apron, especially the black and white damask with red trim. So lovely!

  • 20. Samantha  |  January 1, 2010 at 7:24 pm

Happy New Year to you and Stephen!

Sadly, I don’t even have an apron… so I could definitely use one. Specifically the first one that you pictured. 🙂

  • 21. Samantha  |  January 1, 2010 at 7:28 pm

I think my favorite from her Etsy site is one that is the Maggie Vintage Black and White Polka Dot Full Apron. Soooo cute, and I love vintage fabrics.

  • 22. Abby  |  January 1, 2010 at 8:25 pm

Oh my goodness they are all so cute that I can’t choose just one. I like the turquoise one and also the black and white damask with the pink trim. So cute. I’m pretty sure I wish my waist was as small as those pics…

  • 23. Christine  |  January 2, 2010 at 12:43 am

My favorite kitchen accessory is my fabulous red kitchen aid!

  • 24. Christine  |  January 2, 2010 at 12:44 am

Also, my sister got me a really cute half working apron from boojiboo to wear at work to hold all of my teacher stuff! i love it!

  • 25. Kaitlynn  |  January 2, 2010 at 11:18 am

Ooooo I LOVE the damask one. How adorable! I also really like the drink coasters at Boojiboo’s shop. We have all glass coasters and tile floors…not a good mix, they’re all broken.

  • 26. Jill  |  January 2, 2010 at 5:43 pm

Happy New Year Chelsea! 🙂 Less eating out is a big one for us too… We went to the gym this morning and TJ said “Sure is crowded!’ I had to remind him it was January 2nd.

Anyway! I tweeted you so check your @replies 😉 There are so many aprons to choose from but I like these:

I really like the damask apron! Super cute.

  • 28. Lisa D  |  January 2, 2010 at 10:43 pm

I also love aprons. It is so hard to pic my favorite! I think I would have to say the damask one.

My favorite apron is this cute polka dot one that I got at Anthropology this fall. It is ADORABLE. I love to wear an apron while cooking!

  • 29. White Rabbit Advertising  |  January 2, 2010 at 11:27 pm

Ooh those are so pretty. I need a full apron, I have a couple half ones but I love those full ones. Super sexy!

  • 30. John Campbell  |  January 3, 2010 at 12:04 am

I’ll put an entry in for me… I don’t plan on wearing it, but I’ll gift it to my wife.

    Thanks for your consideration.

Happy New Year! Feels like I’ve been gone forever.

I like the Maggie Vintage. VERY cute!

  • 33. That Pink Girl  |  January 3, 2010 at 6:50 pm

I’m supposed to only pick ONE favorite? They are all too cute! Loving pink and green, AND roses, I’d prolly opt for the sweet roses half apron. Love the colors and the rick rack!

  • 34. Cousin Kim  |  January 3, 2010 at 11:46 pm

Definitely the damask one! Soooooo chic! My favorite “cute” (not so sure…but I think it is DARLING)…is my new Mandoline. It makes cute little jullienne strips! (Actually it might do anything I ask it to…I think it was high $$). Kay – I don’t have a blog… Now what? I will post your blog to my Facebook page?

  • 35. Cousin Kim  |  January 3, 2010 at 11:50 pm

From the website visit…Ooooo…the “Chloe-Vintage” is pretty darn appealing!

  • 36. Jessica  |  January 4, 2010 at 12:59 am

Those first and last aprons are SO CUTE! My favorite apron ever is this one that one of my teachers used to have that said “I’ve graduated from college, but I’m still in kindergarten” It was cute. This one time me and my grandma made each other aprons out of this extra fabric she had. Needless to say, the one I made for her wasn’t nearly as nice as the one she made for me. I still need to learn how to properly use a sewing machine.

  • 37. osarah  |  January 4, 2010 at 7:34 am

My favorites are the Maggie vintage full apron in red as well as the Vintage inspired Amy Butler optic blossom in yellow and grey half apron. I also have to note that I love that her dog squeezed into one of the shots.

  • 38. Sarah @ This Heavenly Life  |  January 4, 2010 at 8:48 am

I love my new lemon apron from Jessie Steele, but the one my mom made is super sweet, too. And I’ll never stop using my grandma’s old apron. I pretty much love them all 🙂

  • 39. ThatMarriedCouple  |  January 4, 2010 at 10:00 am

Oh, so cute! There are way too many to choose from! My favorite apron is one I made last summer, with a cherry print and a ruffle around the bottom.

  • 40. Brandi  |  January 4, 2010 at 11:25 am

  • 50. Molly  |  January 4, 2010 at 10:21 pm

I read this after I’d already done my ToT. Those aprons are totally what I had in mind when I said I’d wear an apron if I had a cute one. What a darling little store she has!

  • 51. Nora  |  January 4, 2010 at 10:24 pm

    OMG. Such cute aprons.
As silly as it sounds my favorite kitchen item is a set of measuring spoons I received for Christmas last year from Museum of Modern Art.
I love that these aprons look kind of 1950s-ish.

  • 52. kelly  |  January 5, 2010 at 9:53 am

my favorite apron is hopefully the one i win in this drawing!! ( i don’t have one )

  • 53. Faith  |  January 5, 2010 at 9:57 am

My favorite apron at home is one my MIL actually bought me. Just red and white checkered but I love it.

I also love the 1st one you posted and there’s a beige skull and roses one on Boojiboo’s site. Granted it’s for little girls, but I still like it!

Oh and I blogged about the giveaway. Happy New Year and Blogaversary!

  • 54. Amanda  |  January 5, 2010 at 10:40 am

Look! It’s my first give away entry! Okay, so I have NO apron, so there is no favorite. It’s sad. I’m sure I would accept any apron as my favorite.

    I love this apron: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=37880097

    I’m sure it’d be perfection!

  • 55. Taryn E  |  January 5, 2010 at 3:20 pm

ooohh… i love the CHLOE Christmas Pine Tree Apron… That is definitely a Christmas-cookie making apron!!! 🙂

  • 56. Rachel  |  January 5, 2010 at 3:44 pm

I will take them all, thank you. The only apron I have was cute at the time I got it (when we got married) but now there are much girlier ones that make mine not so cute. I could argue I was wearing a cute apron before cute aprons were cool… but I’ll never dare to claim I’m a trendsetter. 🙂
My fav kitchen accessories are my Knorks and my Caphlon pans. I love both… I don’t know what I did before I got my glorious, “just try to get something to stick to me, it won’t happen” pans.

  • 57. Tiffany  |  January 5, 2010 at 4:21 pm

I love them all but the damask one has to be my favorite!

  • 58. Lyndsey  |  January 5, 2010 at 4:47 pm

  • 65. Jen  |  January 12, 2010 at 1:27 pm

Ohhh, I am giving away my boojiboo apron but I would love to replace it! My favorite one of theirs that I have been DYING to get is the black scrolls with the red trim in the maggie style-soooo cute! My favorite kitchen accessory is my cookbook holder-weird I know but I used to always get my books and recipes all dirty and now I never have to worry about that!

  • 66. Jeni  |  January 14, 2010 at 1:49 pm
