Loser 9.01: I’m Sorry Baby, But She Is Smokin’ Hot

January 6, 2010 at 9:26 am 20 comments

Before we dive into Loser discussion, let me cover a bit of R&R business. I totally forgot to tell you that yesterday’s ToT questions were submitted by Angela at Craving Cupcakes (<– link). If you have a second, visit Angela and thank her for her questions. I really liked her idea of having a theme. One day this week when I have a spare 20 minutes, I’m going to add links on the ToT Archives so you can see which blogger submitted the questions. If you’re interested in submitting a set, go up there to the ‘Contact Me’ tab and send me your list. Stephen is even in the process of coming up with a set of his own! Be afraid… be very afraid.

BIGGEST LOSER IS BACK! Which means that some of you will quit reading my blog on Wednesdays (you probably didn’t even make it this far) and some of you random people will start visiting on Wednesdays only. Welcome!

The biggest yet. (Of course… BL doesn’t take steps backwards. They go bigger, they go further, and they plug more products.) Five people over 400 pounds.

(Can we all just talk about how Jillian Michaels has taken over the planet EVEN MORE since last season?? She’s got pills… which is shady. She was even on a pop up ad on my computer yesterday.)

(Can we also just talk about how annoying it is to watch BL while in the same room with my husband, dad, and sister who are all chatter boxes and have too many thoughts and feelings. T&F are okay, just save them for the blog comments, folks.)

The contestants had to do their first weigh-in in front of their towns. The men are very very very big. John and James (twins) weigh almost 1000 pounds together. Of course the pink team consists of two chicks. Blue team is from Houston… whoo hoo!

Is it bad that I got a little hungry when the green team showed their Puerto Rican food?

My mom and I were noting that it’s sad that we think, “He isn’t that big” when we see people in the 300’s. It just makes me wish that BL would be on ALL the time so that more and more people could be on it.

MORE TONGANS! Koli and Sam- the next Sione and Filipe! Sione was one of my favorite contestants of all time. I hope these guys are just as nice. They seem to be. But what do I know, I thought Liz was nice at the beginning of last season.

Sunshine? Who names their child Sunshine?

White Team Michael is 526! I want him to succeed SO bad. He is so young! (30)

The contestants arrived on the ranch and Alison was greeting them on the street. She was looking good. (I’m really going to like this red team! We MAY actually have some personality this season!) They immediately began their first challenge. They were told they had to bike 26.2 miles, and the last two teams would be sent home. The green team (Miggy and Migdalia) won.

The blue team momma had a break-down on her bike. Not quite sure what happened but she was in awful pain and she was screaming. It broke my heart to see how upset she was that she had to quit.

Blue and Yellow were the last two, they loaded into the limo to be sent home. But wait, there’s more. Just kidding. (Totally saw that coming, just so you know.) They secretly have to leave for 30 days and then come back to weigh-in against each other. The winning team of the two gets to stay. My sister says it’s going to be the yellow team– there, it’s in writing, Sister.

I LOVE THE FIRST WORKOUT! So many tears, so much vomit, so many people falling and screaming. It’s fantastic. Brita. Walmart. (Incase you’re new to my BL blogs, I like to re-plug the products they plug. It makes me happy. Like I’m mocking them… only they don’t  care about me. It’s funny somehow.)

“Cheryl is a badass” = the highest compliment from Jillian
“Someone wound up that momma and let her spin UP in this gym” = some sort of compliment from Bob

Story time. Nothing too new this time. Except the green girl who’s husband is leaving for Afghanistan while she is on the ranch. I love the pure honesty of the dude on the gray team. I love him.

“Welcome to The Biggest Loser. Family fun for all!” Body Bug. Last change workout. It looked pretty brutal but there was minimal vomit which I think is a good sign. Nobody had to be rushed to the hospital this week, a first for a few seasons. (Tracey last season and White Team Woman the season before. What was her name? Remember her husband won the at-home thing and was way too skinny? Was it something like Stella? Estelle maybe?)

Weigh-In Time – I’m going to track each one because Week One is usually pretty shocking:

Green: Migdalia (16) & Miggy (13) – 5.74%
Gray: Sam (18) & Koli (29) – 6.06%
Orange: Cheryl (14) & Daris (29) – 7.50%
Black: Andrea (14) & Darrell (30) – 6.19%
Brown: James (23) & John (23) – 4.75%
Red: Melissa (19) & Lance (21) – 6.69%
Purple: Patti (23) & Stephanie (18) – 8.09%
Pink: Ashley (21) & Sherry (17) – 6.42%
White: Maria (13) & Michael (34) – 5.82%  “Are my abs showing???”

Brown team is below the yellow line, which is AWFUL because they are so heavy and both need to be there. James has a bad knee so he really shouldn’t take up a spot, but at the same time he gets doctor support on the ranch.

Ultimately, James was voted off. So sad. This show is tough to watch!

What does he look like now? He was 485 and now he’s 385!!! He’s lost 100 pounds!!!! Unbelievable! His wife has lost 24 pounds! Absolutely fantastic. I LOVE THIS SHOW!!

What did y’all think?

Thanks for the shout out! 🙂

I really enjoyed the show last night, the weight loss was amazing. Some say that it is a lot of water loss, but I do not think I have ever seen the women loose so much, 23 pounds was awesome for the purple lady, just awesome.
I thought the same thing about Sam and Koli being the tongan twins, but my response was more like “oh no, not again,” hate to say it, but they were two of the least favorites for me.
I think Melissa is going to be a trip on the show, I have not noticed any crazies yet. lol

I am one of the guilty ones that show up around this time. lol Although I do enjoy your other blogs, I am just not in to husbands, children and cooking so I just don’t have much to add, that is why I look forward to the BBL blogs. Glad it is back, so now I can comment, comment and comment. LOL

I got Biggest Loser for the Wii for Christmas. I can track my progress just like on the show … assuming I have progress. I read the whole post but won’t spoil it for my family. Sounds like it’s going to be a good season.

And yes, Jillian is everywhere. I wonder if Bob’s mad?

I love the BL and last night didn’t disappoint. I teared up a couple of times, but especially when the story of the green girls husband leaving for afganistan came on.

  • 5. Emily  |  January 6, 2010 at 1:44 pm

I have watched BL on and off each season, but last night watched the entire episode-I am hooked. I cried A LOT! It is amazing to watch the determination and emotions at weigh in. I can see why you love this show:)

You will be happy to know that I watched BL from start to finish last night! While eating a Lean Cuisine! While drinking from my Brita pitcher that I bought at Walmart! (ok those last two are made up)

Jillian has pills now?! WTC?! That’s false advertisement. She “delivers” on those “big promises” to you by making you suffer through 40 minutes of a workout dvd where all she does is walk around and stand by her girls and then do a few reps of her own. Not that I’ve noticed or anything. But oh wait…is she taking pills to help her achieve that progress? Cause if so, she needs Mr. 546 Michael to sit on her.

I love the red team! and they’re from Texas which makes me like them more, although I wouldn’t like that my husband was checking out Ali.

The orange team mom scares me.

  • 8. Amanda  |  January 6, 2010 at 2:55 pm

I never have watched this show but I’m going to start just so your recaps make sense to me 😉
I laughed about what you said about readers coming and going – I got an email from someone (not a regular reader, or at least, someone who has never commented) saying they were boycotting my blog until the Bachelor was over if I was going to be wasting both our times with “that crap”…well, alright honey. You just do that! 🙂

  • 9. mom (Nana)  |  January 6, 2010 at 2:56 pm

Agreed – no need to watch with dad and stephen. Too annoying. I don’t have a fav yet – or none stood out that I think I won’t “like” but I really was sad that one of the twins had to leave. Ok….onward to the next episode…

  • 10. Jenna  |  January 6, 2010 at 3:12 pm

I love the BL! I watched last night & am so looking forward to your Wednesday blog..just incase I miss it! 🙂 I don’t have a favorite yet, I think it’s too early yet; but I do hate that they send people home on the first show!!!

  • 11. osarah  |  January 6, 2010 at 3:58 pm

This is John posting as Sarah…

It’s funny that you noticed that the 300 pound guys “aren’t that big” Sarah and I said this to each other also.

Sarah said, during the first workout “sweat, tears and vomiting… Chelsea has to be loving this.”

Also I thought it was not the white team guy who went down during the first workout… what was his name??? Oh yeah, Jerry.

  • 12. thedailychelle  |  January 6, 2010 at 4:07 pm

I loved the “are my abs showing?” comment. It almost made me laugh and cry at the same time. I really want to see that guy succeed too!

  • 13. zburrows  |  January 6, 2010 at 4:39 pm

am i being an idiot today? I dont understand the title????? Did i miss it?

I already miss sean. I am really glad there are no super crazies. it is hard to watch when there is a joelle or tracy.

  • 14. zburrows  |  January 6, 2010 at 4:40 pm

P.S. I dont like the red team. i dont like anyone yet.

  • 15. Clare  |  January 6, 2010 at 6:16 pm

I’ve never watched the show before, but I caught the end of last nights and now I’m hooked. Totally using it as inspiration to work out harder. If those people can do it, I sure as heck can.

  • 16. That Pink Girl  |  January 6, 2010 at 9:08 pm

So good! Hopefully there is no one evil this season (Extra sugar free gum.) couldn’t believe how much James lost (Glad storage bags) in just two months. Wow, that one week on the ranch wad inspiring for him!

  • 17. Stephany  |  January 6, 2010 at 9:52 pm

I loved, loved, love this episode! I love the red team and also the curly-haired fat Justin Guarini-lookalike with the mom who just unleashed herself! Haha, she went from mousy & boring to just plain crazy!

Also, I’ve known about Jillian’s pills for a while and they just totally rub me the wrong way. Not really practicing what ya preach there, Jill!

And just so you know, I went to the hardware section of Wal-Mart today. Thanks, BL! What would I do without your product placement?

  • 18. Bec  |  January 10, 2010 at 9:16 am

I had TBL recorded and just watched it. I like the Blue Team and the Red Team so far. I think both teams will be a force as we go along. As for the brown team…i don’t like them. Their personalities just weren’t doing it for me.

  • 19. Kathleen  |  January 11, 2010 at 1:47 pm

I finally got around to watching the first episode that I DVR’ed. I have to say, having never seen it before, I think I could have cried through the entire thing if I didn’t control myself.

  • 20. Debbie  |  January 14, 2010 at 11:34 am

Had to wait for some others to watch, but, we FINALLY did! Wanted to say that a few yrs ago..wasn’t it Estelle (or Stella?)’s husband that actually went to the hospital? The older dude with glasses…it was so scary when he fainted in front of her…scary!

Anyway, we totally said the same “they’re not that big!”.

My first born daughter’s name will be sunshine. dont hate. lol 😉

i love the white team…so cute!

lastly, i saw some interview with jillian where she was talking about sione and filipe (whom i also adore!!!). she was saying they were some of the most difficult contestants. they would always sneak away from campus to go get fast food. hahaha. too funny. i was waiting to see koli do their tongan dance all night!!!
