Seven Quick Takes – Was This Week 12 Days Long?

Here’s a quick rundown of a few things going on in my head. (Click the logo to visit the host.)

-cheek pinching old aunts
-cheez whiz flavored chapstick
-how to handle your wife

If we’re keeping track of pregnancy bloody noses, I’m up to 4 now.

Today is also my first day wearing my Bella Band (<- That’s a link). The instructions show the first stage of wearing the Bella Band at 18 weeks. I’d like to argue that Miss 18 Weeks doesn’t wear jeans to work every day. At least 4 times yesterday, I reached down to unbutton my jeans and realized they were already unbuttoned. Sitting in jeans, even with a slight belly, is just not comfortable. My mom bought me a black Bella Band with lace along the bottom… so it just looks like I’m wearing a long camisole under my sweater. And now I can unbutton my jeans, forego the belt, and be sure that my jeans don’t fall down. These things are great. I think I may need to get a plain white one too. Highly highly recommend it if you’re pregnant.

What belly? You don’t have a belly! Yes, I do. If I can’t button the jeans that were my “fat jeans,” my belly has definitely changed. Stephen and I will be taking weekly pictures of my belly so we have a fun “flip book” at the end. Unfortunately we didn’t start until week 10… we really should have started at week 9. This is was I looked like on Monday, at 10 weeks and 1 day. (Sorry about the red eyes. I’m not fancy enough to fix that.)

I spent a good chunk of time the other night packaging and addressing books for the swap. I’ll take them to the post office today during lunch, so be watching your mail boxes! My original plan was to just draw names and titles and randomly assign them. Then The Rocket Scientist suggested that I just walk over to the stack of books I have on my desk and assign them according to their placement in the stack. Good idea! So you’ll get the book that was sitting underneath yours on the stack. I will post the assignments later next week so you can see the assortment I got. I figured I’d wait to post them so it would be a surprise when you get it in the mail.

I hope you’re enjoying Our Story. I hadn’t intended for it to be several parts written by each of us, but that’s where it’s headed. I guess it’ll be nice to have a detailed account of how we met written somewhere. Now WordPress, if you die and go tp internet Heaven, please keep my story in a safe place. Thanks.

I got a cute pregnancy book in the mail the other day. I assume someone ordered it from Amazon because it was just a book in an envelope. Here’s my question: Who sent it? I’d like to thank you properly! I started reading it yesterday on the way home from work (we carpool) and got about 4 pages into it before I realized I can’t read in the car without feeling like dying. I’ve been writing notes for a pregnancy book of my own, this book is similar to what I had in mind.

Have a great weekend, all!

One word: Picasa. It’s a free download, it’s easy, and it finds your eyeballs and makes them not red anymore. It’s like magic! Only it’s not.

And it’s not one of those programs that makes life harder. Promise. 🙂

I hate the pregnancy nose bleeds. I get them this time of year when I am not pregnant but then being pregnant now only makes them worse.
    You look so cute!
A quick tip, Search Etsy for Belly Bands and you can find all kinds of cute prints. I love belly bands!

18 weeks? Yeah right! I started wearing that thing immediately and even then, it only lasted a few weeks before I was already into full-blown maternity clothes. Granted, I was going to ride this “comfort” thing as long as I could…but still…there’s no WAY I could have still been wearing that thing at 18 weeks. (But I’m with you, I’m a jeans girl and jeans just do.not.give.)

    Have a great weekend!

    Great list and cute pictures!

Am really enjoying the Our Story posts, keep them coming!!

  • 5. Tabaitha Kaye  |  February 26, 2010 at 11:40 am

I loved my bella band! I used it with Mason until I was almost 20 weeks along and unfortunately with Taylor I started showing sooner, so I was only able to use it up to 15 weeks.

Cheese whiz flavored chap stick- Interesting

Shirt needs to be pulled up for us to get the full affect of what your belly is becoming, yeah, you gotta do it.

“Our Story” is very cute and interesting, I am enjoying reading them.

I hope you have a great weekend too, I was hoping for a repeat of last weekend, but it looks like it is going to be cold, I hate cold, I am tired of cold, I want cold to go away and never come back any day.

    Bye 😦

#4 – just way too cute.

  • 9. rachieannie  |  February 26, 2010 at 12:24 pm

Love the belly shot! Keep posting them 🙂 It gives me a chance to live vicariously through others.

And the stories help remind me and Hubby about why we don’t want a baby yet …. hormones, nosebleeds, etc. Not that I’m not excited for you! Cause, yay! Obvs. It’s just that … I’m hormonal enough WITHOUT being preggo 🙂

  • 10. Cousin Kim  |  February 26, 2010 at 12:32 pm

ooooo…sooo happy to see belly pics! I guess I will definitely have to keep checking in – if only to get the weekly belly shot (although you know it’s for many more reasons for that – namely pics of Avery. :o)
Hope you are feeling well. Have a good weekend!

They have plain belly bands at Target. Cheap too.

  • 12. Southern Gal  |  February 26, 2010 at 12:51 pm

You’re so pretty in that picture. Yay for your baby bump. It’s definitely not a belly yet. Tall and pregnant. It takes months before anyone suspects you’re pregnant. They just think you’re putting on a few pounds for a while. Enjoy it. I found out in subsequent pregnancies that belly loves to just pop right back out there quickly!!

  • 13. Pippy  |  February 26, 2010 at 1:02 pm

I should have bought a bella band, Maternity jeans give you saggy butt like crazy. It’s bad.
Love the pic! You can see the little bump! So cute!

  • 14. Kelly  |  February 26, 2010 at 2:41 pm

    Love your cute little belly!

  • 15. Stephany  |  February 26, 2010 at 2:52 pm

Oh, I love the belly shot! I love baby bellies, I have to say. I have a weird obsession with them.

So excited to here my book for the book swap has been mailed! I can’t wait to find out what it is and read it. Yay!

I have FULLY enjoyed the Our Story posts. You know all about me and my obsession with my future husband so I can’t wait for us to have one of our “Our Stories”. 🙂

  • 16. Erin  |  February 26, 2010 at 2:57 pm

I’m suspicious of Miss 25 Weeks having “too loose” maternity jeans. Seriously? SERIOUSLY? Imust be doing something wrong and I’m only at 22!

  • 17. Sarah @ This Heavenly Life  |  February 26, 2010 at 3:05 pm

I want a bella band, and I’m not even pregnant!

You should try No downloads, just sign in and work for free on pictures. Their red-eye tool is my friend. Us blue-eyed beauties hafta stick together, y’know?

It’s a good thing we’re not neighbors, because I’d totally be patting that itty bitty baby bump. Would that freak you out?

  • 18. HoustonGurly  |  February 26, 2010 at 4:39 pm

I wish I would have had Bella Bands back when I was pregnant! I like the Our Story posts, too… Super sweet.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  • 19. Nora  |  February 26, 2010 at 4:55 pm

I love the color of your hair. LOVE.
Thank you so much for doing the book swap thing; I’m excited to get my book!

Hope you have a weekend without nose bleeds, nausea or jean malfunctions. (I hear great things about the Bella Band!)

  • 20. Gabby  |  February 26, 2010 at 7:44 pm

Oh goodness, Congratulations is way past due! You look great, and I am impressed you could even upload the picture, when I was at ten weeks I could barely dial the phone… I was so tired all the time!
Enjoy getting to wear normal clothes as long as you can!

  • 21. Ashley  |  February 27, 2010 at 3:42 am

Lol at “cheez whiz flavored chapstick.” Probably the best search terms I’ve ever heard.

  • 22. Jill  |  February 27, 2010 at 9:45 am

I am totally enjoying your “Our Story” posts. I’m pretty sure I could never get my husband to write for my blog (but I probably wouldn’t anyway because I think I have like 3 readers). You look super adorable with your baby belly 🙂

  • 23. Veronica  |  February 27, 2010 at 12:41 pm

Nose bleeds are mostly caused by too much heat. Most of the time it can be remedied by cold compress. ,;:’.

    Take care

  • 26. Demetrius Hoppel  |  November 13, 2012 at 8:07 am

Nose bleeds can be caused by benign conditions such as too much heat or exposure to the sun and also it can be caused by more serious ilness like cancer.`
