Seven Quick Takes – The Last 7QT Before Our Baby Has A Gender

May 7, 2010 at 8:30 am 21 comments

I am shocked that this week flew by. I thought it was going to crawl at a snail’s pace since I’m looking forward to so much. You should already know that Monday is a huge day for Stephen and I. But you don’t know that Saturday evening I get to babysit Avery. Or maybe you do… I may have mentioned it. I’m really excited. Why is this intro so long? Don’t I know that Fridays are always about being quicK??

Moving on…

I’m pretty sure that there is no better food in the world than crispy bacon. This is not an opinion, it’s fact.

We are currently watching The Marriage Ref (which is hilarious, by the way) and it brought on a conversation. This woman had her husband saved in her phone as “Johnny husband” and made fun of that. Stephen has me saved as “Chelsea The Wife.” I have him as “Stephen Hurst” because that’s what I saved him as when we first met. Is that weird? How is your spouse saved in your cell phone?

My dog is allergic to grass.

Reread that. My DOG is allergic to GRASS. How much does that suck? She has seasonal allergies. We give her Benadryl but she’s so far beyond those little pink pills. She sneezes and itches and has juices coming out of her eyes. I feel so sorry for her. Especially because she’s a DOG and can’t avoid the GRASS. She sort of has to potty there.

If you follow me on Twitter, you got wind last Friday that there was something wrong with my mom’s finger. Let me brief you. A few weeks ago she got a pretty good cut on her finger from a fence or the garage or something. She went to urgent care and got 6 nice stitches. A week went by and she kept thinking that it was infected. She went back to the urgent care doctor and sure enough, infected. They took out the stitches and gave her some antibiotics. They told her to wait two days and see how it looked. Two days later (last Friday) she went back again. Not any better. She went to a hand specialists right then. He took a look, told her to make a fist, and rushed her into surgery. She had a pretty bad ingury with 80% tendon tears (or something) in her finger and a seriously nasty infection. His words were, “Just be glad you didn’t wait until Monday.”

She’s in a splint and has to keep it elevated for 2 weeks. I haven’t seen it but I hear it’s pretty nasty. It’s healing though, so that’s good news. Thanks to all of the Tweeple that said a prayer for her. Keep them coming, she’s still really sore and uncomfortable.

Did you know that when you have leg cramps and foot cramps while pregnant, it’s actually a calcium deficiency, not a potassium deficiency. True story. I asked my doctor.

I don’t have anything else to tell you.

Today is my brother’s birthday!!! Happy birthday Justin!

This is my brother.

He’s turning 28 today. I always forget his age because sometimes I think he’s younger because he is a goof, other times I think he’s older because he’s large. Whatever his age, he’s awesome. He’s funny and friendly and a fantastic brother.

Couldn’t ask for a better one! I love you Justin!! I hope you have a great birthday and I love your daughter.

    1. I concur, I could eat a whole pack at one time.

    2. That is a funny show.

    3. Weird, all mine want to do is eat it, and then vomit it, I wish they would not.

    4. Wow, I hope it heals and she feels better.

    5. I have those and I am not even prego, maybe calcium is what I need too, some times I wake up in the middle of the night with a cramp in my foot, not fun at all.

    6. Sure you don’t.

    7. Cool, mine was May 5th, so I will always remember your brother, and you of course, the age difference, no need to discuss.

    Have a great weekend.

John is in my phone as John – no last name, no descriptor. As I recall, my dad has my mom and each of the kids labeled according to relationship. His theory? If something ever happens to him and someone access his phone, they know who to call. I think it’s pretty good reasoning.

Re: your mom – I had no idea that happened. I’m bad at keeping up on Twitter. Anyway, I really hope she/her hand recovers quickly.

    And Happy Birthday, Justin!

Enjoy your weekend! I can’t wait till Monday!

  • 4. smile steady  |  May 7, 2010 at 10:25 am

Hubby is listed in my phone as “Husband.” That’s all. And I’m pretty sure I’m in his as “Wife.” We’re pretty creative.

I used to have David saved as “David Forbes” because I like everyone to be saved with their full names. He didn’t like that though, so now he’s “David My Love.” Makes him happy. πŸ™‚

I hope Alice feels better!! That does NOT sound like fun. On a side note, if she was a man, she would have not gone to the doctor till Monday… Or the next Friday.

Chelsea: If crispy bacon is the best, you might try
a PB&B sandwich and leave off the junki I like.

    Have a great day!!!

Happy Birthday Justin!!! πŸ™‚ You look so great as a daddy!!

#2…my husband has me saved as T-Wife. He says it’s so if he were ever in a car accident or something, they could look at his phone and know exactly which person to call. Valid reason…. I think he’s just lazy πŸ™‚ lol

#3 I almost wish Yoda was, b/c all he wants to do is dig it all up!

#4 Feel better soon, Mrs. R!!!!

#5 Yes, I did know that… you’re growing a human… and that means making things like bones! πŸ™‚ Lots of pregnant women can become very calcium deficient.
I CRAVED milk all during my pregnancy… I was up to like a gallon every 3rd day or so near the end. It was baaaaddddd. I was getting it in pint glasses at restaurants! πŸ™‚

Hubby is in my phone under his name.
Glad your mom’s finger is healing!
Yeah, I know about leg cramps~try and remember to flex and not point your toe.
Have fun this weekend and good luck Monday!

Michael used to be “Michael Husband,” but now he is just “Michael.” I always think it’s funny if people have their spouses with their first & last name. But your story is cute.

Happy birthday Justin! You & Laura are good at making cute babies!

  • 11. DebbieQ  |  May 7, 2010 at 1:23 pm

#1 – you are dead on.
#4 – glad to know what was going on. Knew there was something.
#5 – yup. I had those. So not fun.
    #7 – Happy Birthday Justin!

I’m so glad you said that about leg cramps! I woke up the other night in about tears because I had so many cramps in different parts of both of my legs and I couldn’t get them to go away. My hubby and my mom keep giving me a hard time because I refuse to just drink a glass of milk **gross** and I know they are right that the baby needs it. So I bought chocolate milk (hopefully it does just as well with the calcium thing) now maybe I won’t get leg cramps!! πŸ™‚

    Happy Birthday to Justin!

  • 14. Alyssa  |  May 7, 2010 at 6:53 pm

Hubs is saved in my phone under Matthew Groeteke (like the formality there???) and I think I’m in his phone as Alyssa and Alyssa Work.

I finally started my book from the book swamp…I know I’m horrible!!! Sorry!!! Enjoy your weekend!

  • 15. mmstanger  |  May 7, 2010 at 10:24 pm

Well, glad to know I am not deficient in some areas as I have not had leg cramps. Muscle pains throughout my belly, some weird B-H contractions (for the first time in 3 pregnancies), reflux, exhaustion, ligament plain – but no leg cramps. Ahhhh… this aged mommy thought a third pregnancy would be the most comfortable, but it is not. Still, such a blessing!

here’s to prayers for an easy pregnancy ahead for you and lots of blessings, too!

Just jumped over from Conversion Diary and love your blog! I am perusing and chuckling and think that the name (and story of the name) is fantastic. Also, my husband is in my cell phone as Puppy. I used to call him that waaaay back when we were dating (though I never call him that, now). It stays in my phone, though, because I read, somewhere, not to label people by relationship so that if your purse gets stolen the person doesn’t text your husband and ask for the pin #. I guess I feel secure that whomever robs me will not try to get a pin # from the dog…

I have trevor saved as trevor husband!! i put that in their the morning after we were married and havent changed it sense! πŸ™‚ trev has me as mrs. Mcdreamy because i wud reference mcdreamy when talking about him when we first started seeing each other and brcause i loved greys at the time and so he switched it up on me and my contact infor has been the same since (almost 4 years!).

  • 18. Stephany  |  May 8, 2010 at 12:01 pm

I just watched Marriage Ref last night and just thought it was hilarious they kept calling him “Johnny Husband.” I don’t have a hubby, but I do have my mom stored under as Mom, if that helps any. πŸ˜‰

  • 19. Angela  |  May 8, 2010 at 12:58 pm

I realize Stephen is only my boyfriend, but he’s in my phone under his first name and last name. If we were to get married right this very instant, he’d stay that way in my phone. In fact, everyone in my phone is filed under their first and last name (unless I don’t know their last name). The only people who aren’t are my parents. They’re under Mom and Dad, haha!

  • 20. Jill  |  May 9, 2010 at 9:11 am

Crispy bacon, yum-o! My husband is in my phone as TJ Work Cell. This is because for awhile, he had two cell phones. Now he just has that one and I’ve been too lazy to change it! πŸ˜‰

Sorry to hear about your dog’s allergy but glad to hear you momma’s finger is healing! that is crazy!

  • 21. Kyla Roma  |  May 9, 2010 at 11:17 am

Seasonal allergies? That’s the saddest thing in the world!! Poor kid! I’m glad you guys found out, that would have been so confusing before the diagnosis.

    Have fun babysitting =)
