Pregnant Pause – 29 Weeks

I had a post all planned out in my head. It was good stuff… it had practically written itself. But you’re going to have to wait until tomorrow because it didn’t actually write itself and I didn’t have time to write it last night. Our former foreign exchange student is visiting from France so we went out to dinner and then visited for a few hours. Then I got home at around 10:00 and vacuumed the nursery so Stephen could shampoo the carpets tonight. At that point it was about 10:15 and I got distracted trying to find Daphne on the back of a box of Scooby Snacks. By the time I found her (turn the box, Chelsea!) it was late and I was frustrated so I went to bed.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

Today I am 29 weeks and 3 days. I wore a t-shirt to work yesterday and was constantly tugging on it to cover my belly panel. How is it that I have 2.5 months to go and all of my maternity shirts are too short? Today I’m wearing a plain black t-shirt of Stephen’s that I just noticed has a small stain smack between the boobs, probably caused from a queso mishap. But it’s long and it doesn’t squeeze my belly so I’m wearing it. I don’t think anyone around here will object. Thus far, Stephen has been the only person brave enough to utter the words, “Are you going to wear that??” out loud. But I think he learned his lesson and I don’t think there will be any more questions about my attire.

I’m still wearing my wedding ring. It’s the only ring I’m wearing but my fingers don’t look like sausages so I’ll keep it on for now. My bathing suit, however, is starting to look dangerously like a sausage casing. I don’t know how I’ll fit in it for another 2.5 months, but I’m not buying another one. It stretches a bit when it gets wet, so that’s good. It’s just that before it gets wet, my belly shows a bit. OH WELL, I say. OH WELL!

The nursery is completely painted. Whoo hoo! It is super bright but it looks fantastic! If Stephen shampoos the carpets tonight, we can probably get in there and work on stuff this weekend. I’m anxious that get the furniture in there so we can see how it’ll all fit. We have large furniture and a small room. Hopefully with some brilliant placement, we can trick ourselves into believing that the nursery isn’t a shrunken Willie Wonka room.

Here’s this week’s picture, with the new green walls.

We think it’s about the same size as the others. Since we took everything off the walls and painted, Stephen lost the fake frame he used to help him make sure that all the pictures match. I’ll go add it to Bumptastic and we’ll see. I’m also curious about the growth this week because my back pain and awful sleep schedule has not fixed itself. I have a feeling that I’ll be having this back pain until the bitter end. Of course there are worse things I could be experiencing but this isn’t very fun. I actually had a pretty decent night last night. I even pushed snoozed a few too many times because I was too comfortable to get up!

So there’s my update, friends. Time is flying and I’m trying to keep up. It’s not easy for a large woman to keep up with anything, so wish me luck!

Can I just say the walls make a fantastic backdrop for your weekly picture? It does.

That should read, “Can I just say the wall makes a fantastic…”

LOVE reading your “Pregnant Pauses” every week! 2.5 months seems like a long time, but I have a feeling it will go by VERY fast!!

I have always had the trouble of my shirts being too short around the last of my second trimester (thanks to having a long torso) and making my belly panel on my pants show. This time my best friend let me borrow her belly bands and now I wear one with all my outfits. Instead of seeing my belly panels you see the belly band which looks like I layered shirts. Just a thought and maybe something to try. You are looking good and I can’t wait to see the nursery finished, so far it looks great!

Love the bright green color! Given all the discomfort you’ve been experiencing you look great 🙂

I love the wall paint ! Looks great! I feel so bad about your clothing issues. That really stinks. As if you need something else to worry about when you’re already uncomfortable. I say wear the tshirts! Who cares what people think. Bah! Screw them if they care. I love the Daphne comment. Classic! I would totally do that.

Why DON’T posts just write themselves?

If you are planning to have more children (and will eventually need more maternity clothes anyway) you might as well buy a few more shirts in a larger size so they fit better NOW. I tell you this from experience – my own and my friends – because so often you end up getting bigger faster and bigger in general with the subsequent pregnancies and you might as well have the clothes on hand. Just a thought. I love the maternity t-shirts that are very long – I even wear them when I’m not pregnant, though all the books say I won’t want to do that (they’re wrong in my case. My favorite top is a maternity blouse that looks FABulous on me when I’m not filling out the belly, too)

I literally laughed out loud when I read about you and your bathing suit!!! It’s so true!! I feel the same way!! HAHA!! I am NOT buying another one!

    I love your blog! 😀

I agree with you about the bathing suit… It might not be worth it. That said, keep in mind that if you’re going to be pregnant ever again, you might need it anyway. Plus, bathing suits are on clearance, so you could get one cheap. If you have a bottom that works, you could just get a different top.
It’s completely normal to have to buy different sizes of maternity clothes. I had clothes I couldn’t wear in the 7/8 month, so I went out and got some shirts that were a little longer and pants that were a little bigger.

I found that Penneys has longer tops and…. by using JCPenny coupons you can still save.
