It’s A Christmas Miracle!

I know I’m supposed to be posting the second half of my must-have baby items list today, but we need to put that on hold for a second. I don’t think you’ll mind. Read on…
So yesterday I raved about the Miracle Blanket. I wrote the post and then asked Stephen what he thought the must-have baby items were. His answer, “Definitely the Miracle Blanket!” I’m telling you, this thing is fantastic. So fantastic that we both see it as the #1 Must Have Baby Item. Jansen loves it, he sleeps through the night 99% of the time, and it keeps him warm without any suffocation risks. Seriously y’all, this thing is awesome.
Since so many of you clicked over to their website yesterday, they came to visit me. And by “they” I mean Mike Gatten, the inventor of the Miracle Blanket. See what happens when you click these links? You get rewarded! He wants to give one of you the Miracle Blanket of your choice!
They have several colors to choose from, click here to see the choices. I have a white one with teal trim and this blue one:
I know, I know. It doesn’t look like much. BUT IT IS MUCH!
We started using it when he was like 5 days old, he was teeny tiny. He was so tiny that it didn’t really work to stick his legs in the bottom pocket, so we used to wrap him like this:
So yeah, that’s not technically how you’re supposed to use it… and I’m sure the people at Miracle Blanket are kicking themselves for letting me promote their product. Whatever, it worked for us. Now that Jansen is bigger, we use it the right way.
If you’re curious about the product, watch this video from their website. It’s really not difficult, it takes us all of about 7 seconds to wrap Jansen up now.
Here are the details: one reader will win the Miracle Blanket of their choice. The giveaway begins now and it’ll close Monday evening at 7:00 Texas time. I’ll announce the winner on Tuesday. This is how you enter, each option is good for one entry:
-Leave a comment. Just tell me who you’d give the Miracle Blanket to if you won.
-Tweet about the giveaway. Include @rootsandrings and a link to my blog, then come back here and tell me you tweeted.
-Blog about the giveaway, then come back here and tell me you blogged.
Good luck!

Hi Chelsea, I have heard lots of good things about the miracle blanket and wish I would have known about them when Riley was little! I would love to have one when the time comes for Riley’s little bro or sis:) By the way I hope you guys have a very merry Christmas!

timlinzrowland | December 16, 2010 at 7:41 am
If I win I am giving it to my Sister-in-law who is pregnant with her first. Baby girl didn’t ever stay swaddled when she was little so we just gave up and luckily now she sleeps great. The miracle blanket would have come in handy then.

Maureen aka Emmie | December 16, 2010 at 8:04 am
I had never seen one before you started using it for Jansen. And if I won, I would give it to my niece Brigitte and her husband Marc who are having their first baby in June.

monica | December 16, 2010 at 8:38 am
If I won, I would give it to my newborn son who needs to stop startling himself awake!

Tabaitha | December 16, 2010 at 8:39 am
I love my Miracle Blanket. I have a pink camo one. If I won a Miracle Blanket, I would give it to my best friend who just had a baby girl named Austen.

I also tweeted about it and linked it back to you.

If I HAD to give it away, I’d give it to my sister, who is expecting in May…but with my baby girl’s eczema, we’re still having to swaddle her at night (even though she’s 5 months old) to keep her from scratching herself at night…so I’d probably KEEP IT and just let her little legs hang out 🙂
9.
Mary | December 16, 2010 at 9:40 am
I would actually keep it! I’m expecting a baby very, very soon, and I would have loved to have this for my older children when they were babies!
10.
Stefanie | December 16, 2010 at 10:07 am
I have 7 of my closest friends and family that are all expecting between May – July 2011. I would give the blanket to any one of them and maybe buy one for the rest of them. It looks like a great product.

If I win I will be re-gifting to my bestest friend who happens to be preggers. She is due in January and unfortunately her family is having financially trying times right now. I will also be purchasing one, but if I’m lucky she will be getting 2!
12.
Kari | December 16, 2010 at 10:29 am
I’d give it to my dearest friend Danielle who is having her son tomorrow morning!!! I can’t wait to meet the little guy!!!
13.
MrsSJohnson | December 16, 2010 at 10:36 am
Well, since I don’t have kids (but hopefully someday will) I’ll save it for a gift to a special friend or just store it away for me!

I just tried out our fake swaddling blanket last night. Not so great. The miracle looks awesome! I would keep it for myself (selfish)? Our kiddo is 8 days old now, and nights are a challenge. My husband hates that Myla makes so many noises in her bed that sound like she’s choking or something. Really, she’s breaking her arms out of her swaddle and sucking on her hands or scratching her face. That little booger. Thanks for the post!

If I won the Miracle Blanket I would give it to my sister who is due with baby #4 in three weeks. She has 6 year old boy/girl twins and a 2 year old boy (baby #4 is a girl). She’s never tried the Miracle Blanket or anything like it. I’d love for her to have one so that she can get a good nights sleep with the baby.

I wouldn’t give it away… I’d keep it! 🙂

Kate | December 16, 2010 at 10:53 am
I would love to give this to my brother and sister-in-law who are expecting their first baby at the end of January! It’ll be my first niece or nephew so I’m very excited!
Thanks!

What a great giveaway. My 2 best friends had babies this week. One on Monday, the other one yesterday. So I would have to choose between the 2 of them (or just buy one for the other one if I won). Or buy 2 if I don’t win this giveaway. 🙂
21.
Jessica | December 16, 2010 at 11:24 am
I absolutely love giving these as shower gifts to friends as I have heard they are a lifesaver. So, I would give it to a friend at a shower. I LOVE the little camo ones – they are so precious. I keep being tempted to buy one of them for my future kiddos, but we don’t plan on having them for another year or two, so it seems impractical at this time. I just hope they still have camo ones at that point. 🙂

Southern Gal | December 16, 2010 at 11:30 am
Hey! I’d gift this to my daughter for her next baby, although they do still swaddle Nora occasionally. Thanks for the chance.
Are you going to disqualify me because I win too many of these things? I’d understand completely. Ha!

Lauren from Texas | December 16, 2010 at 11:35 am

We are going to start trying again soon so I might keep it! But then again 2 of my friends are each pregnant with twins so I may need a gift!
26.
LSTex | December 16, 2010 at 12:08 pm
I would love this because I’m expecting a precious baby boy any day now!
27.
wishcake | December 16, 2010 at 12:36 pm
Awwwweeeee! So cute! I may just hoard the blanket myself, for my own little baby someday. Or if I’m not feeling selfish, I could give it to my sister who just had her first wee one!!
(But I’ll probably keep it for myself. I’m not going to lie.)
🙂
28.
Ashley | December 16, 2010 at 12:44 pm
Hmmm. Sadly I don’t have any really close friends or family members who are pregnant or have a baby right now. So I’d probably store it away for my future baby or the first friend/family who has a baby.
29.
Emily | December 16, 2010 at 12:59 pm
I would use it for our new baby who may be making his/her debut today or tomorrow. Waiting for the dr to call about an induction.
30.
Heather (SIL) | December 16, 2010 at 1:53 pm
I agree with my mom—I’d give it to Brigitte and Marc!
31.
Kathleen | December 16, 2010 at 1:57 pm
I’d keep it for my future baby. 🙂
32.
Taryn | December 16, 2010 at 2:04 pm
I would either keep it or give it to our neighbor Mary who is expecting their first in early January 🙂
33.
Emily | December 16, 2010 at 2:48 pm
I would keep it for myself 🙂 haha Is that bad?? We’re having a baby in July and I think this might help Mike with swaddling our little one.
34.
Brandi | December 16, 2010 at 3:44 pm
Since I just bought 2 Miracle Blankets for our little one, I’d gi e this one to a dear friend who is due in July!
35.
Mama Fuss | December 16, 2010 at 4:46 pm
My sister-friend, Coral is my next friend due with a baby and since this is her 5th child, I imagine she can use all the help she can get. I’d give it to her. Of course, I’d probably ask her to return it when this baby had outgrown it, so I could use it for my next baby. We’re big into swaddling in this house and the hospital blankets only last so long….
36.
Jenna Z | December 16, 2010 at 4:50 pm
Neat! Hopefully we could use this blanket ourselves in a year or so!
37.
rachieannie | December 16, 2010 at 7:17 pm
I would keep it for our baby 🙂
38.
Mom (aka Nana) | December 16, 2010 at 8:17 pm
When I gave that to Laura to use for Avery, I had heard from Mendy’s daughter, Roixe, that Miracle Blanket was the ABSOLUTE ONLY one that would work. So….glad I listened. And how cool that they are doing this for you! IF I WON (each right), I would give it to Kim, since she didn’t have one for Sophie and has no clue about this wonderful miracle.
39.
natalie | December 16, 2010 at 9:17 pm
i would definitely keep it for my son 🙂
40.
Shelley | December 16, 2010 at 9:43 pm
My daughter is pregnant and due in Feb. She is a nursing student with a 3-year-old and works as a CNA. I would love to surprise her with a Miracle Blanket. She would love it!

Seriously…
You KNOW who I’m gonna give it to! LOL
(Selfish…you betcha!)
Tweet – huh?
Blog…WHAT?
C’mon can this be any more difficult to win?
47.
Kat | December 17, 2010 at 1:50 am
I’d keep the thing! I just gave away a pink one at a baby shower before I found out I’m having a girl and the 2 I used with my son have holes in them because I used them so much!
48.
EmJay | December 17, 2010 at 3:42 am
Honestly, I need it myself for a backup. I use one now for my almost 3 month old, but need another. I’m one blow out away from a very long night.

If I won I would give the miracle blanket to myself. For my 3 month old son-Sawyer. His dad is deployed to Afghanistan until June and only got to spend 2 weeks with him. My baby boy is still not sleeping through the night and I obviously live alone. I go back to work in 2 weeks and really need a Christmas miracle-SLEEP.
Thanks for considering me, I love your blog!

This is my comment. It is NOT for me..but someone else.
57.
Jana | December 18, 2010 at 8:46 am
I would probably give it to my sister-in-law provided she promised to let me borrow it if I have another baby. 🙂
58.
Kyria | December 19, 2010 at 4:48 pm
I would give it to my friend who just had a baby or my cousin in law who is due in March!

These are awesome. I need a new one for baby #2. So, I would give it to….myself. Or, the baby. However you choose to look at it. Ha. 🙂
