The Most Interesting Post In The History Of Ever

February 9, 2011 at 7:15 am 13 comments

It is currently 10:30 at night and I’m tapping this post out with one hand while the other hand holds the pump cone of shame. On a scale from 1 to 10, I’m about 17 tired and I wish I was in bed. We had a thing at our church tonight that we felt like we should attend. Has anyone ever been part of a church that has had a pastor request a “peaceful release?” Well I’m not going to go into much discussion but let me just tell you that there are a lot of opinions and, while everyone may be entitled to their own opinion, it isn’t necessary to speak them publicly into a microphone under the disguise of a question. And also? It’s sort of shocking how unkind people can be within the church. Last week when I mentioned that my life was going through a bagillion changes, this is one of them. My church of 26 years is having some major pains right now. Prayers are greatly appreciated.

Another change that my life has been going through: I own TOMs. Did I mention that? I’ve been wanting them for quite some time and my mom bought me a gift certificate for early Valentine’s Day. The problem was that I couldn’t just pick one pair. My friend Sarah told me to look at it as if I was buying a pair of shoes for a kid in need… and I just happen to get a pair as well. So now I own the red canvas ones and the silver glitter ones. I think TOMs are like crack. I want more. I’m thinking either the slate or olive or brown ones. What do you think? My life is full of big decisions.

(Insert clever segue here.)

I love you forever if you leave some Ten on Tuesday questions in the comments. I know beggars can’t be choosers but please leave them in sets of ten… not just a question here or there. It’s too hard for my disheveled mind to compile them late on Sunday nights.

Thanks in advance. And also my husband just told me that formula was invented when people tried to mimic the vitamins and benefits of breast milk for use by body builders and other strength trainers.

Oh church upheaval is SOOOO hard. I will be praying. And I agree that it is amazing, and not in a good way, the harsh and unkind things that people who have attended church together can say to each other when they get in front of a microphone.

Um, YEAH, our pastor 2 years ago requested a peaceful release…then we found out the scandal behind it. The whole things was SO painful, and even though we have a new pastor now, we have wounds that are STILL healing. My heart goes out to you & your church, friend! God is faithful to his people and He will bring resolution in His time!

Dang, church upheaval is awful. It’s like losing members of your own family. I went through this last summer and because we were such a small church there were words said against my own parents! The two people who started the church! Ugh, we’re still recovering.

What about a ToT with pictures again…that was fun! Questions to follow…

When I was 18 the only church I’d ever known went through a massive upheaval and split. A few years later, we finally got a pastor who attempted to heal some of the wounds. It was awful. I’m so sorry you’re having to go through that.

Can you tell me what the big deal is about Toms? I don’t think I get it.

TOMS are the new crocs, right?

A peaceful release request can’t ever be a good thing… well, I mean I guess it can be if everyone respects it. Sorry to hear about the troubles.

however, Tom’s!? I LOVE THEM. My brother introduced my family to them years ago and while I don’t own a pair, I love the organization. So awesome. I had no idea they made glittery ones. that could be trouble!

I’ll try to come up with some ToT and email them toyou 🙂

Funny enough, I was just thinking yesterday that I should contribute some questions, being since I answer all the time. I should pitch in. As soon as I think of a good list, I’ll send them to you.

I posted a little cute humor on my blog today that I received in an email. Some have probably seen it before, but it may put a smile on your face. It is “Why God Created Moms” answered by 2nd graders.

Hope things smooth out for you soon.

I’m not sure if any of these have been asked before, but here goes. And they’re kind of random.
    1. What type of cell phone do you have and how would you rate it?
    2. What has been your most serious injury?
    3. What is one movie you hate and why?
    4. How many email addresses do you have?
    5. Besides your own, what is one of your favorite blogs?
    6. Which mexican restaurant makes the best salsa?
    7. What is your dream car?
    8. If you could spend up to $100 with no strings or restrictions or guilt, what would you buy?
    9. What is your favorite board game?
    10. How often do you change your hairstyle?

I’m really really wanting some Toms. Especially some silver glitter ones. 🙂

  • 11. Hattie  |  February 9, 2011 at 4:47 pm

How about one question with 10 answers? Like 10 places would you like to visit? What are 10 of your favorite things? Or tell us 10 annoying things…..

  • 12. Kathleen  |  February 10, 2011 at 9:45 am

Last year our church closed because of finances and “replanted.” We are now meeting in a school and it’s so tough because there are only so many volunteers so we end up doing a ton of stuff and get burnt out easily. My church was a second family and it’s so different now. Hard.

I bought the olive TOMS and I love them. They go with almost everything!

  • 13. KEZ  |  February 12, 2011 at 3:47 pm

I love my TOMS! And I feel special because they discontinued the pattern I have. =D

But, I’m a little dumb and posted my ToT questions on the wrong post. Sorry!
