Rosey Cheeks

Thank you for all of the compliments on the nursery, I told you it was awesome! (Sorry about the “burp clothes” typo… I’m not sure how that happened but I’m seriously embarrassed!)

Did you notice the paintings? Of course you noticed the paintings, they were awesome! Let me remind you.

I wanted a “J” for the wall but I wanted it to be fun. This is fun.

And this is what I got when I requested “just some fun baby-type art for the wall… in my nursery colors.” I really am not sure how that vague of a request could turn into something so cool, but it did. That pretty much means that the artist was seriously creative and seriously talented. And I happen to know the artist.

My sister!! (Oh look, and there’s me and Jansen!)

She’s kind of awesome at painting. She’s kind of awesome at a lot of things but I’m just focusing on her painting today. Why? Because I want to show you this.

That’s the banner to my sister’s Etsy shop. You can click on it and go visit. In fact, you SHOULD click on it and go visit. And if you have any nurseries to buy for, you should get in touch with her. Or if you have any ideas for non-nursery paintings, she can do that as well.

The name of the shop is The Rosey Cheeks. Her name is Lindsay but most of her friends call her Rosey– it stems from our last name. And if you look closely, there’s a baby butt on the banner. Cheeks… get it?! That’s pretty much the cutest thing ever.

Anyways, I just wanted to alert you guys of this store. Hopefully if you ever need a painting, you’ll think about her. Also, feel free to add her button to your blog. Just save it as a jpg and make sure it links to her shop. (www.theroseycheeks.etsy.com)

Whiskers On Kittens

I’m taking a break from talking about my pregnancy (thank God, huh?) to just talk about a few things I’ve seen lately that really make me smile. Contrary to the title, none of the things below are related to cats because I hate cats, but they are a few of my favorite things.

Share a few of your own, plug some Etsy stores if you’d like! You can click on any of the pictures to get to the website I found it.

This journal:

I love journals in general but I thought this was especially cute. It’s very reminiscent of elementary school, only without the chalk dust and accidental finger scratches in the board.

I have a thing for aprons. I have 10-15 of them hanging on my wall and I rarely use them. I just love them though! This shop has some seriously cute ones!

I had a hard time picking my favorite one but this is in the top 5. I just LOVE the bright bow!

The other day I ran to the mall for something and I walked into Dilliard’s, only to be greeted by a new line of Fossil purses. I’m really not the type to be obsessed with purses but these were really cute. The pictures online don’t do them justice, you need to see them in real life.

There are several patterns and colors to choose from and they are all so pretty!

I have a pair of Sperry’s that I’ve had for two and a half years. They are, by far, my favorite pair of shoes and get the most wear-time. I’ve often thought about buying another pair in a different pattern but I never know if I’ll wear them as much as my classic tan ones. My sister just bought this pink flowery pair and they are so cute. Maybe if I can find myself a good sale I’ll buy myself a non-plain version. Maybe these?

How would I ever pick? I think Stephen needs a pair of the plain ones too. I’m a believer that everyone in a hot state should own a pair of Sperrys. Is that just me?

I’m all about comfort right now. And while I may be able to find comfort in a recliner, I rarely find comfort in clothes. Things just dig in and make me feel restricted. Pregnant or not, this skirt it a must have.

I have it in black and brown. I wore it often before I was pregnant and now I’m even more in love with it. And, hello, it’s only $15!

I’m in serious need of a new watch. Correction: I’m in serious need of a new watch band. I have a Fossil watch with a white leather band. The face is really pale pink and it has a white Longhorn on it. I love it but the band is threadbare. I may go replace the bands. My sister just got this watch from my mom, I love it. I love white watches.

And it’s under $20! Can’t beat that!

Is that a good enough list? I’m sure I’m forgetting about a million things. That’s what pregnant women do, we forget things. Also on my list: frozen Double Stuf Oreos, sleep, decaf coffee from my Keurig, fans, the internet, free food, not having to argue with Stephen about who gets to sit in the recliner, ice cream, weekends, baby boy stuff, Nutella, email, and not feeling guilty for sitting down and being lazy.

You?

Signed, Sealed and Delivered

Want to hear something embarrassing? We still have our Christmas decorations up. Want to hear something even worse? We still have a pumpkin on our porch. I hang my head in shame… but I also laugh a little. I like it. I think Christmas decorations should stay up as long as it stays cold, or at least until the end of January. They are just so fun. It’s depressing to take them down. The house looks plain and I can no longer pretend that it’s the holiday season. But the economics side of me recalls the Law of Diminishing Returns. At some point, those decorations aren’t going to make me happy anymore. So the moral of this story is: All good things must come to an end.

Our blogapalooza has reached that point. Sad day. I hope you’ve enjoyed it because I’m fresh out of giveaways for about 7 years.

For the final giveaway, I’m giving away something that I know many of you will be totally thrilled about. Our nature as bloggers and blog leaders is that we love to write. Our hearts flutter when we think about stationary. We get warm and fuzzy when we send mail. So here’s a perfect pair to your favorite set of crisp, personalized stationary.

Isn’t it glorious?? Custom address labels. So beautiful!

If elegant isn’t your thing, maybe you’ll like this one.

Do you love it? I’m partial to the first one but this one is super cute too! It reminds me of my friend, Lyndsey. She loves black and white with a pop of hot pink or turquise. And she’s wild. Wild like a zebra.

Want some of your own? AKM Designs is going to make that happen! She’s offered a set of custom address labels to a R&R reader. One set is 3 sheets of 30 labels. Since I’m a genious, I know that equals 90 labels. However, she’s given me the option to break it up. We could have 3 winners, each winning one sheet of 30 labels. Although I’m aware that 30 labels isn’t as cool as 90 labels, I also know that 3 winners is greater than 1 label.

So here’s the deal, I need your vote. You decide this one, folks.

Here’s how to enter:

-Leave a comment. Tell me why you love mail.
-Check out AKM Designs (<– link) and tell me your favorite item in her shop.
-Blog or tweet about the giveaway.
-Leave a question on yesterday’s post. If you’ve already left one, you will be counted.

Good luck! Whoever wins has to mail me a card. Because I said so.

A Delicious Start to The New Year

Only a couple weeks left of our Christmas-Blogaversary-Giveaway-Blogapalooza. Sad, huh? This week’s item is one of my faves. I’m sure you’ll agree.

I’m sure many of you have added “go out to dinner less, cook more” to your list of New Years Resolutions. While I don’t make New Years Resolutions, I think that’s a pretty good goal any time of the year. It’ll be much more fun to accomplish that goal while wearing this:

Ooooh la la! It could be fun to wear that even when you’re just making a frozen pizza!

That’s our giveaway this week. A cute apron. I’m one of those apron lovers. I have many and I love them all. Basically, I’m an equal opportunity apron owner. I even have one with a cow that lights up. True story, ask my mother-in-law.

But here’s the thing. You may not like light up aprons. (I’m not sure why you wouldn’t… everything is cooler if it sings or lights up!) You also may not like turquoise aprons. (Once again, not sure why you wouldn’t.) So I’ll let you pick your own.

Actually, Boojiboo  (<– that’s a link) will let you pick your own! Want to see a few of my faves?

Hellllo polka dots!

She even has these cute half aprons.

Don’t you love it? It’s very cheery. (This is totally unrelated, but aren’t the backgrounds of her photos ridiculously charming?) And… look… you all know how I feel about damask.

So here’s the deal. One of you will get their apron of choice from Boojiboo’s Etsy shop. All you have to do is enter. Here’s how.

-Leave a comment. Tell me about your favorite apron or your favorite, cute kitchen accessory.
-Blog or tweet about the giveaway.
-Check out Boojiboo’s shop (<– link) and tell me your favorite.

Giveaway starts now and continues until Wednesday night. Good luck chef’s!

Baffin Bags Winner… And My Voice

Happy Monday morning to you all. Let me tell you why today is a big day.

1. Today is my best friend, Lyndsey’s birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY LYNDSEY. I wish we could hang out.
2. I announce the winner of the clutch and key fob.
3. You get to hear my voice for the first time. (Unless you know me in real life. Then you’ve obviously already heard it.)
4. I (hopefully) get a niece. My very first niece.

Now let’s address these individually.

1. Happy birthday Friend. I love you and wish you the very best birthday. How did we get so old??

2. Sorry I’m announcing this like 4 days late. I have literally not been home in 4 days, except to sleep. We are exhausted. So I couldn’t quite find the energy to write all the names down and try to make a video. Especially since most of you are on vacation anyways and it doesn’t make much difference to you if I announce today or next week.

3. Here you go. Because I love you so much. Man, this was not easy. Apparently WordPress won’t play the video right from my camera because of the file type. So I actually had to open a You Tube account so you could see this. You’re welcome. After we shot this video Stephen told me that I was talking funny. He was too. For some reason when a video camera is on you, your voice changes. It’s impossible to act normal. So please still be my friend.

Congrats Angie! I’ll hook you up with Baffin Bags (<– that’s a link).

4. My brother and sister-in-law are supposed to have a baby today. She was scheduled to be induced this morning at 5:00 am but they got a call saying the hospital is full and to hold tight for a bit. Now they are waiting for another call from a scheduler. How crappy is that?? So I may or may not be an aunt today. And to make matters worse, my mom is sick. Which means she won’t get to go to the hospital on the day that her very first grandchild is born. SUCK. Say a prayer for her so she gets better ASAP.

That’s all I’ve got for you today. I hope it was thrilling and entertaining. If you haven’t entered the latest giveaway, be sure to do so!

**Edited to add… we aren’t doing Ten on Tuesday tomorrow. I don’t feel like it. AndI’m hoping to talk about my niece tomorrow.

Beggars Can Be Choosers

Yesterday I picked Lyndsey up from the airport so we could go to lunch and I could see her for an hour or two. She lives across the country and we only get to see each other 2 or 3 times a year. We treasure our time together. When I got out of the car to help her with her bags (yes, multiple) she exclaimed, “Chelsea! You’re so skinny!”

Oh I love her. Although I’d allow her to greet me with, “Chelsea! You’ve put on weight!” or “Chelsea! Lay off the PW cinnamon rolls!” if it meant that I could see her. Beggars can’t be choosers, right?

How many times have you heard that? I hate that saying. I mean, it’s sort of true, but it’s still dumb. I guess maybe we should specify our begging from the beginning so that we don’t have to be choosey later. Don’t say, “I really want a pedicure.” Instead say, “I really want a good pedicure with comfy massage chairs that doesn’t cost more than $25.” Ba-da-bing! No choosing.

“I really want to buy a house with my husband.” No no. Instead, “I really want to buy a nice house in a good neighborhood with no ‘old house drama’ and a low interest rate.”

Ba-da-bing!

“I really want to see my best friend more than 3 times a year and hear her tell me how skinny she thinks I am.”

Excellent. I’m not choosing, just specifically begging. So I’m not being rude.

(Insert awkward segue here.)

This week, you get to choose your prize! Well, not entirely. But you get to choose your fabric. And we all know that appearance is everything. Right? Okay well maybe not, but it sure helps when it comes to accessories!

Baffin Bags is giving away a clutch wallet and matching key fob of your choice. So you can beg me to win, and then you can choose your prize. See? Beggars CAN be choosers. Man, it took me like two years to GET TO A POINT. (I don’t even know why I’m trying. I know you just want to see the goods.)

So you get a clutch wallet and a key fob. These key fobs are so popular right now amongst the blog world. Have you seen them?

How cute is that? Don’t you just love that fabric? Or maybe this one.

I actually bought my sister-in-law some coasters in that fabric. There’s a special place in my heart for burnt orange. Maybe there’s a special place in your heart for burnt orange too.

But you also have to consider the clutch. Always consider the clutch.

Seriously y’all. I love that. The polka dots make me smile. Do polka dots make you smile?

But wait. Not that I want to influence your decision, but I think I have found my favorite.

I love a good damask print, but it’s the pop of pink that makes me drool.

Interested? Of course you are. Why wouldn’t you be. Have I mentioned that I am this close to having a niece? Do you know what my niece needs? THIS.

Those snaps look like candies! Avery would love those snaps. Too bad you can’t win that in the giveaway and give it to me. Because I know y’all would… you know, if you could.

On to the details. There will be one winner. The winner will get a clutch and key fob in the fabric of their choice. (Fabric will be the same on both items.) The giveaway will be open until Wednesday at midnight and I’ll announce the winner next Thursday or Friday. There are 5 ways to enter:

  • Just leave a comment. Tell me a random fact about yourself.
  • Tweet about the giveaway.
  • Blog about the giveaway.
  • Add my button to you sidebar. (The code doesn’t work so save it as a jpg and just make sure it links back properly.)
  • Go to the Baffin Bags Shop (<– that’s a link) and tell me which fabric you’d choose. (Don’t worry, we won’t hold you to it!)

Since y’all aren’t the best at following directions, I’ll give you an option. (I’m all about the choices today.) You can leave a new comment for each entry (hint, this is easier for my list writing and paper cutting drawing process) or just leave one big comment. If you leave one big comment, make sure to say something like, “This is good for ____ entries lady!”

Good luck friends.

(WordPress doesn’t recognize “pedicure” as a real word. I have never been more disappointed in WP than I am at this moment.)

Happy 200th Post to Me (And You)!

Before you freak out, the Biggest Loser recap is coming later today. If I wrote the Biggest Loser post before this one, this would not be my 200th post and would make me a liar. Wordy and ridiculous, I am. A liar, I am not!

At first I was just going to title this “Happy 200th Post To Me” but I realized that without you, there is no me. Well, that’s not true. There will always be me. But without you, there is no point in this wonderful celebratory post complete with two awesome giveaways.

Can you believe it? Two hundred posts. That’s a lot. I’m actually pretty impressed with myself. I have never stuck with anything this religiously except my husband. And bills. And frozen Double Stuf Oreos.

But that’s beside the point! We should celebrate. In these 200 posts I’ve vented, I’ve had good days, I’ve had bad days, I’ve realized my passion, I’ve cooked, I’ve accomplished goals, and I’ve met friends. Most of the friends that I’ve met, I haven’t actually met. Which of course you would know since, chances are, we haven’t met. But I love you all anyways! So in honor of you, dear blog friends, I’ve got TWO super cute giveaways.

A blog friend of mine named Taryn is in the process of opening an Etsy shop that is so creatively called “to a T.” But she is “one of those” who won’t do anything until it’s good and ready. So she has yet to open the shop up to the public. Fine! But lucky for you, she likes you. She’s giving away a free custom item to one Roots and Rings reader. (Edited to add: here is the link to her site!! www.TarynPeine.etsy.com)

Here are a few samples of the things she does.

heart

shoe

Taryn may be a great at this and I may be great at rambling about nothing, but neither of us excel at photography. Please don’t judge! Here’s a photo of the items she made for my sister-in-law. I think my voice raised two octaves when I opened the package. So stinking cute!

lauras onesies

But wait! There’s more. (I’ve always wanted to say that!)

Etsy seller, EdieCastle is giving away a jewelry tote. Yall, these are cute. Her fabrics are just wonderful. After sweat and tears and a tension headache, I picked the perfect one to give to one of you.

Jewelry Tote

Isn’t it great? Amy Butler Gothic Rose. I love Amy Butler fabrics. I only know this because I have a slight addiction to Etsy.

Jewelry Tote 2

Make sure you check out these sellers. Christmas is sneaking up on us! Great ideas for baby shower gifts, bridesmaids gift, etc. (Obviously don’t give the onesie as a bridesmaid gift…. you know what I meant!)

Here’s how this will work. I’ll draw two winners. The first name I draw will win one custom item from Taryn. The second name I draw will win the jewelry case.

How to enter:
1. One entry: Leave a comment. Just one. It would be fun if you’d tell me your favorite R&R post.
2. Second entry: Blog about this giveaway, come back and leave the link to that post in another comment.
3. Third entry: Okay, I guess you can tweet about it even though Twitter is of the devil and I have no way of reading your tweet- I think.

Contest ends Thursday night at 10:00 pm. I’ll announce the winners on Friday.

Seven Quick Takes (vol.9)

Can you believe I’ve been doing this for 9 weeks? Can you believe that you keep coming back even though you KNOW I’m going to tell you seven useless things? Yeah, me neither.

7_quick_takes

1.
All day yesterday I thought it was Wednesday. Each Thursday I’m responsible for posting (not writing) a new devotion on the women’s ministry blog for my church. As I was closing down my computer at work yesterday evening I thought, “I suppose I could go ahead and schedule it.” Two seconds later I realized it was Thursday already and I was 8 hours late. I’m so responsible that I shock even myself.

2.
Yeah, hi J. Crew. Why are your dresses so expensive?

I have a few weddings to go to this winter and I think I’d like a new dress. All three weddings are from different areas of my life, so I think it may be appropriate to wear the same dress to all three weddings. I was thinking about a gray, knee-length dress. Maybe wool. If you see something let me know. I’m not very good at shopping unless it involves Target, Half Price Books, or Old Navy.

3.
I recently read a blog that discussed getting what you want. People often say, “Oh I wish I could _______.” In her case, people often said, “Oh! You are so lucky that you get to live in Europe. I wish I could live in Europe for a few years.” To which she answers, “Why don’t you?”

So simple. But really, so true.

I wish I knew what blog this was because I’d give you the link. One part I really loved was that she said that so many people get involved with a million different projects, hoping that they’ll find happiness in at least one of them. Just figure out what you really want and pursue it. If you wish you could cook, learn to cook. If you wish you could sew, learn to sew. If you wish you could lose weight, lose weight. Don’t avoid the thought process of figuring out what it is that you’d like to pursue. It’s that easy.

Only it’s not.

4.
This Sunday on my weekly grocery shop, I plan to get a bottle of pumpkin spice creamer. I normally drink my coffee black. Pumpkin spice creamer is the only exception I make. Plus, I can’t afford to spend $4+ on pumpkin spice lattes. I need something pumpkin flavored to convince myself that it actually is fall.

5.
I’m “one of those” people who get their Christmas shopping done early. I don’t believe in being stressed out the week before Christmas, that makes me lose focus of what Christmas is all about. It also makes me broke. So for the sake of my sanity and my bank account, I start early. If you know of any great Etsy stores or unique websites, tell me the links! I think I’ve asked this before and got ZERO responses. I probably made the mistake of asking two questions in the same post.

Speaking of two questions… if you can handle it, add two words to your comment. I got 9 submissions yesterday but since all of them are TOO HARD I’m welcoming more.

6.
Last night my fingers were swollen from being hot and eating salty foods so I took off my rings. I have to do this because I have a band on both side of my engagement ring and it hurts my sausage fingers to have all three on. After The Office, Stephen was flippng around the television while I was working on this and that movie with Diane Keeton came on. I think it’s called “Something’s Gotta Give.”

C: I like this movie. You don’t, right?
S: No. I don’t. I don’t like watching old people have sex.
C: Well I like it. She’s a writer in a big house with big windows on the beach. I like that.
S: But she’s single.
C: So?
S: Put your ring back on.

So I did. But I just put my engagement ring on because it was too uncomfortable to wear all three. I put the others in my “secret hiding spot” and forgot to put them back on this morning. ALL OF THAT to say that I’m only wearing my engagement ring today. It’s kind of fun.

7.
I’m on this new kick where I want to learn stuff. Weird, I know. I don’t really want to take a class or anything, I just want to learn new sweet skills. I have to be conscious not to “put my hand in too many projects, hoping to get happiness out of one of them” but instead “begin the thought process of figuring out what it is that I want to pursue.” Like pie. I think I’d like to make a pie with homemade crust. I should probably stop saying, “I’d really like to do that” and start actually doing it.

I’m reading a John Piper book called “Don’t Waste Your Life.” For those of you who are familiar with Piper, you know that he’s not a simple beach read. He writes quality Biblical stuff and you must have a pen in your hand to read it. But I’m enjoying it because I’m in this learning mood.

That’s is y’all. That’s 7 quick takes. I feel like this week was especially lacking.

Seven Quick Takes (vol.5)

Oh friends. It’s Friday! How glorious! And not only that, we have a three day weekend. That almost makes me want to do a happy dance. I totally would if I weren’t 8 feet tall and so very white and completely unable to pick up any rhythm, even made up rhythm in my head. Maybe I’ll just do a really cool fist pump.

Anyways, because it’s Friday that also means it’s time for some Quick Takes. Seven of them, to be exact. You can head over to www.conversiondiary.com to see a whole bunch of other Quick Takers or to add your own to the list. Enjoy!

7_quick_takes

1.
Last night, Stephen called humus “pita juice”… that’s gross. And not even accurate. I guess he could call it “chick pea juice” but even that sounds nasty.

2.
Last night I was asked to serve in another area at church. It’s something I believe in and would love to see thrive, so I agreed. Want to know the terrible, horrible news? I found out that we’ll be meeting the first Tuesday of each month. Do you know what I do on Tuesdays??? That’s MY night. My time to sit in front of the television for two hours and eat pizza and watch the best television show that ever existed. The Biggest Loser. Since the first Tuesday of September has already passed, our first meeting is September 15. Otherwise known as the season premiere of The Biggest Loser. Otherwise known as the day I start living my life again.

So I’m not sure how I’m going to handle this. For those of you who weren’t around during last season, you may not understand. This show is my life. I love it. And each Wednesday I devote a post entirely to Biggest Loser. So, you see, I can’t DVR it and watch it the next day. Not just because I don’t have a DVR, but because it’ll throw off my blogging routine. And you don’t want to throw that off. I think I’ll have a heart to heart with my parents and ask them to DVR it and let me come over after my monthly meeting and stay up late to watch it. Mom, Dad… consider this our heart to heart. Thanks, you’re the best!

3.
In other Biggest Loser news, I saw a preview for the new season last night. Remember Daniel from the orange team that went home pretty early on? He’s back! I think that’s fantastic. But I was sad to see that Mike’s brother wasn’t on. Unless that’s a surprise. I can only dream…

4.
Stephen and I are going to paint our living room next weekend. I’m absolutely giddy with excitement! It’s currently covered in disgusting wood paneling. This weekend I may start on some of the prep work. Apparently you have to clean, sand, clean, prime, and then paint. There are even more steps if you plan to fill in the cracks between the panels. I think we’re choosing not to do that. It’ll look great without those filled in. It’s going to be a ton of work but SO worth it!

5.
I heard on the radio that there was a study about men. Apparently if they are around a hot woman and then take a test, their scores are much lower than normal. Researchers say that they think men use up a lot of energy and brain function trying to look good and impress the girl that there isn’t much left when they need it for the test. That’s also why they stumble on their words and do dumb things while they are around these women. My thoughts? I guess that explains why I’m constantly surrounded my so many idiots.

ha…ha

6.
I got my laptop case in the mail last night. I love it. I put my laptop in it immediately and it sat on my lap while I was on the couch watching tv. I made Stephen tell me over and over how happy he was that I love it and how much he loves it. I even made him pet it and tell me how wonderful it is. And he humored me, because he’s that awesome of a husband. Really yall, it was $20! I’m thinking that I’m going to be doing the majority of my Christmas shopping through Etsy. I’d so much rather give my money to “the little man” and the things you can buy there are so cute… and custom! If you know some good sellers, give me the link. If you are a seller, give me your link!

When I brought it in the room to show Stephen he said, “Is that what you bought from that girl, Etsy?” He’s cute.

7.
Three day weekend.

The Heaven’s are opening and the angels are singing … “Ahhhhhhhhh” (That’s not a yell, it’s a beautiful tune.)

Three days. A lot I want to do. I’m getting my hair cut tonight and then going on a dinner date with my hubby. Tomorrow I will be either writing or cleaning the living room wall, depending on my mood. We also have a Princess Party to attend for Stephen’s cousin’s daughter… who is just so stinking cute you could spread her on a cracker! All I’m saying is that it’s a good thing she is so cute and that UT is playing a crappy team, because her party is at the same time as the game. I’m also spending some time with a couple girl friends from high school, always a pleasure! Basically, what I’m telling you is that my weekend is going to be fabulous.

You?

I will leave you with a beautifully written letter that my Blog Friend 4 Ever, Lauren wrote:

Dear 3 Day Weekend,
I love you. I would even make out with you, if you were make-out-able.
Love,
Lauren

Not So Bad for a Lazy Girl

Well, Roots & Ringers (can I call you that?), it looks like I’m going to get through this week with writing only one actual, quality post. Monday was a happy birthday post to my sister, Tuesday was an actual post, Wednesday was a guest post, today is a 101 in 1001 update, and tomorrow will be my Seven Quick Takes.  So uh, sorry.

It’s been a while since I’ve taken a look at my 101 list and I was quite nervous to do this post. I didn’t really want to write some grand opening and then hear crickets when I actually addressed my progress. So let’s take a look at what I’ve accomplished since my last update. (For the full list, go up to the top and click that button that says “101 in 1001.”)

7. Paint our bedroom
I finished this daunting task. It took quite a while. You can click HERE to read a post from when I was in the middle of the process. I’m aware that I owe you pictures and I’d like you to know that it’s on my Labor Day weekend to-do list.

12. Send out 10 cards, just because.
I’ve sent out a total of 3. As of last update, I had only sent 2… and while I’m aware that I haven’t made much progress, I also know that I have until March 31, 2012 to send out 7 cards. Even I can do that. Anyways, one went out today. It’s a good one!!

26. Host a Pampered Chef party.
It’s planned but not complete yet. If you live in Houston and want to come but didn’t get an evite, let me know! You can come. I only sent it to people who I thought might find joy in a night of playing with kitchen gadgets. Or if you live in Houston and don’t want to come, but want to buy something, I can arrange that too. I full intend to get a pizza stone, a garlic press, and maybe one of those doobers that you pour your drippings into so it can separate the fat from the good juices.

33. Get 3 more Avon customers.
Another in progress. I’ve got 1 more. I’m really not good at this. I can tell you all the live long day that I think they make the absolute best eye liner and that Stephen thinks they make the absolute best fruity smelling shower gels because the bottles hang in the shower, but if you even blink when I’m talking about it, I’m going to assume you’re not interested and change the subject. Basically, I suck at sales. And that’s okay. I really am only a rep so that I can buy the products. But it doesn’t hurt to sell a bit so I can support my addiction.

34. Spend a Saturday cooking a freezing meals.
Done! Lauren and I spent a Saturday making a total of 27 meals. We plan to do it again in a few months, once were out of freezer food. Or maybe sooner, I’ve already eaten 4 meals.

62. Finish the bathroom.
This is done but not technically done. Stephen needs to hang one more towel hook and put the vent cover over the vent. That’ll be done this weekend, and I’m aware that I owe you pictures of this too.

67. Buy something from Etsy.
Oh how I love etsy.com! If you haven’t visited that site, you really should. I just bought a custom laptop case from GlamourDamaged for $20!! It’s not here yet but I’m so excited. Check it out!

75. Eat at 10 new restaurants.
Four down, six to go! I’ve added Rudy & Paco’s and Sunflower Bakery, both in Galveston. And Dolce Vita Pizzeria in Houston. Stephen and I ate at Dolce Vita on Sunday night. A friend of his from high school was in town and invited us to eat with him, his mom, sister, and a couple friends. This is no regular pizzeria, my friends! They had this pizza called Taleggio. Oh good Heavens. Taleggio, arugula, pears, and truffle oil… on a pizza. To be honest with you, I didn’t know what taleggio was until about two seconds ago when I googled it. Apparently it’s a type of cheese. A type of cheese that I very much want to try on it’s own because if this pizza is any indication of how to-die-for this cheese is, I’m all in. Yall, I’m still dreaming about this pizza. Drooling about this pizza. Considering kidnapping the chef at Dolce Vita and holding him hostage until he teaches me exactly how to make this.

97. Replace the lights above my vanity.
I’m considering this done. I decided against buying new lights because every light is at least $45 and I’d have to buy too. So instead I decided to GO GREEN! If it’s actually green to buy a can of spray paint and spray the ever-living-daylights out of these nasty gold fixtures. I sprayed and sprayed and lost some brain cells. But it was worth it. They look great. They have a brand new life. And since I only spent $10, I saved $80! Go me! Yeah, pictures of these will come next week too. LAY OFF!

So that’s it. That’s actually quite a bit more than I thought I’d have complete. I’m kicking butt at this challenge! I’ve still got a ways to go but feel like I’ve made a dent in it.

Hope you’re all having a good day. See you tomorrow with my randomness!
