Seven Quick Takes After A Long Weekend

I know this week was only four days long but I couldn’t be more ready for this weekend. As usual, I have stuff on my calendar because I like to ignore everyone’s advice to take it easy. Really though, it should be a pretty good weekend. And minus the registering, it should be stress free!

1.
Last week my phone broke. The touch screen wouldn’t work which presents a problem when all of your buttons besides “send” and “end” are on the touch screen. So basically all I could do was answer calls or call the last person that called me. I didn’t like that very much. I went to Verizon to get it fixed. Their answer, as always, is to take the battery out. That wasn’t the problem. Apparently my phone doesn’t work when the protective case is on. Stephen thinks it has something to do with a part of the case touching the screen constantly. Anyways, it’s fixed.

2.
Do any of you WordPressers know how to get my categories back? You know how they are along the right column when you are writing a draft? Well mine disappeared like a month ago. I don’t know what happened. Ten points if you can tell me a solution. Twenty points if you begin your statement with “What had happened was…” And thirty points if you know where that’s from.

3.
One of my least favorite things in life is getting to the bottom of a tube of Chapstick. It falls back in the tube and the sides of the tube scratch my lips. But I also hate starting a new tube. It’s concave at the top so part of it always cracks off onto my lips. It’s gross and a waste of a dot of Chapstick. Yes I have lots of thoughts and feeling about Chapstick. No I don’t think it’s weird. Yes I use cherry flavored Chapstick exclusively. No I will not change my mind and your flavor isn’t better. Yes I know I have a problem. No I’m not being paid by Chapstick. (Although they should pay me.)

4.
I’m not going to go into this in full detail because, frankly, I’m tired. And if you agree with me you’ll agree regardless of how many words I devote to this. That whole ump ruining the perfect game? I’m out-of-control happy that Bud Selig didn’t reverse the call. Yes it sucks. Yes I feel awful for both the pitcher and the ump. But this is baseball and human error is part of the game. If the call was going to be reversed it should have happened immediately. The end.

5.
We need curtains in our living room. We have needed curtains in our living room for two and a half years. I think that I must believe the decorating fairies are going to come hang something while I’m at work. One of these days I’ll get around to it. (sigh)

6.
We are this close to becoming a one car family. And by “this close” I mean that we will be a one car family just as soon as we figure out who to sell a clunker to and how to transfer the title. It’s a little scary but we can make it work. We carpool to work 4 days a week already, we’ll just have to adjust to make it work on that fifth day.

7.
Because the Rooms To Go delivery process is such a PAIN IN THE TOOSHIE, it looks like we might be purchasing our recliner this evening so that it can be delivered with our dining room table. You know how most places will say, “We will be there on Saturday, sometime between noon and 3 pm”??? Well not this place. They’ll be here next Saturday… sometime between 7:00 am and 10:00 pm. Well thanks a lot. That really makes things easy for us. So anyways, we know we are going to eventually get the recliner and we’re thinking we would rather just go for it now than give up another ENTIRE Saturday waiting on delivery. Can you support our decision?

The end. Happy weekend!

Seven Quick Takes – Maybe She’ll Actually Write Something

I currently have nothing to say which is shocking because I’ve pretty much said nothing all week. You’d think I’d be bubbling with super entertaining information. You’d think wrong. But let’s give this a shot. (Click the logo if you want to read more or participate.)

1.
Last weekend there was a man at Sophie’s birthday party. He was in his 90’s. He had an iPhone and is on Facebook. How does that make you feel? It honestly made my jaw drop and hide my non-iPhone. (PS- I don’t mean this in a “he’s creepy” way. I mean it in a “does that make you feel like an idiot??” way. He’s a wonderful man and I’m beyond shocked that a man in his 90’s can work an iPhone. I cannot.)

2.
I am awful at gardening. AWFUL. 90% of my vegetable garden is weeds… and not the sort of weed that you can sell for profit. Only a few of my plants have sprouted and I’m not sure what to do about that. How do you go about starting plants in paper towels like we did in elementary school? Is that real?

3.
Want to know what makes me feel FREAKING OLD? We registered our unborn child for day care this week. And I’ve decided I’m going to call it “school.” When I come home I will ask the Hurstling, “How was school today? What did you learn?” I will do this even when the baby is 3 months old and will only blow bubbles and fart in response.

4.
Wednesday night I had my first extremely comfortable night with my pregnancy pillow. I’m getting the hang of it finally. Stephen has a little whine-fest about how much space it takes up. He actually said the sentence, “Sit up for a second and get a bird’s eye view of how little space I have.” I told him to shut his face and that there are two people sleeping on my side and only one on his. For the record, we have a king size bed and he has plenty of space. And even if he didn’t, that’s not my problem. Until September 19, my comfort is the most important thing in our household. The end.

5.
We are trying to rework our budget to make room for the Hurstling and all things Hurstling related. It’s really depressing. Last night we decided that we were going to cancel cable. I cried. Then I realized that since I was crying over something as ridiculous as cable, it was probably a good idea to get rid of it. So now we are just trying to figure out the cheapest internet provider. It’s looking like Clear is the way to go. (They are the people who provide internet for DirectTV.) If you have any advice on the subject, let me hear it!

6.
We got a call about a week or so ago that someone got ahold of our credit card. It was actually the debit card for a bank account that we don’t use much. I opened the account a couple years ago to keep track of the money my aunt was giving me to make my cousin’s scrapbooks. I finished the books and we kept the account open. Stephen uses it around Christmas and my birthday to buy me presents without me knowing. Anyways, someone tried to buy all sorts of stuff with my debit card number. We found out yesterday that there was someone drafting $15 out of it every month as well. Sheesh people! It’s being taken care of with very little drama, so that’s good.

7.
So it appears that I did have a lot to tell you. Hopefully next week will actually bring some quality post. And if not, I’ll just post some pictures of Avery and my baby bump and tell you to be nice to me.

Seven Quick Takes – The Quickest Yet

YAY FRIDAY! Click here for more Quick Takes.

1.
I’m happy about where The Office is headed. I haven’t been a huge fan ever since the co-manager junk. But now it looks like it’ll go back to it’s old crazy pranks and not-awkward humor.

2.
There’s a large stack of books on my kitchen counter for the Book Swap. There are so many that I want to read. I’m excited for everyone participating. If anyone else wants to participate, you have like one more day to get it in the mail. Apparently many of you have been snowed in and unable to get to a post office so I won’t make the assignments until the middle of next week. Also a quick apology to two of you. I came home yesterday to two books on my porch in the pouring rain. So two of the books are a little warped. They still work and have words, but they aren’t crisp. Actually none of them are crisp because they are all used (I think). So that’s a lot of rambling. The botttomline: LAST CALL. Leave a comment if you’re still interested.

3.
So… global warming, huh?

4.
My backyard is under water. I’m not exaggerating. We are at the lowest point of our street and it’s been raining continuously for like 82 days. Rookie hates it because she’s prissy and hates getting her paws wet. I hate it because I love the sun.

5.
There was a cup of hot cocoa in my Keurig sample pack and I gave it a go earlier this week. Not.A.Fan. Yeesh.

6.
It’s almost college baseball season. In case you weren’t around for last season, here’s the cliff’s notes: My cousin pitches for Rice but I have burnt orange blood and have cheered for UT my whole life. When I was in college I hated Rice because they were very very good and occasionally beat my Horns. And now my own family is on that team. I’m embracing it though. I have shirts and hoodies and hats. Basically, I’m a super fan!

7.
I don’t have much to offer today. Sorry. I get to see a bunch of college friends this weekend which pretty much means I’m a happy chick. And I get to spend some time with family and I love that too. So I’m gearing up for a great weekend and can’t focus on Takes, however Quick they may be.

Seven Quick Takes – With A Picture of Avery

Was it just me or was this week 18 days long? I think God is messing with us. Hey God, it’s not funny.

Click the logo below to visit the other Quick Takers.

1.
I don’t know how the weather is in your parts, but here in Houston we are experiencing The Great Flood Part Deux. As of this morning, it has settled down a bit but it’s still cold and dreary and spitty. It’s really starting to annoy me. It’s February… which means that we should be expecting a few random warm days here. But no. Instead it’s cold with a few random freezing days. This is not okay.

2.
Every morning when I’m getting ready for work, Rookie lays behind me at my vanity. When I blow dry my hair I point the blow dryer at her to annoy her. She gives me about 3 seconds and then runs away to tell on me to her daddy. Yesterday morning she was a bit feisty. I aimed it at her and she shook her head. I laughed and did it again. She itched her ear and shook her head. I laughed and did it again. Over and over I aimed the blow dryer at her and over and over she shook her head, scratched her ears, and threw herself on the ground to wiggle around upside down. It totally made my morning!

3.
Sometimes I reread blog posts and think, “Hey, that was kind of funny!” But then sometimes I reread them and think, “Why does anyone care? What am I doing?” Blogging is weird.

4.
Side note on yesterday’s post. We’re not rich. Please don’t misread. And the Star Trek doors are just sliding doors, apparently those were cool in the ’60. As were brick floors, wallpaper, and push button stoves.

5.
I’ve been seeing my chiropractor on a regular basis. She’s a friend of mine and lets me come to her house and see her for free. (Praise God!) I have noticed a significant improvement in my headaches and carpal tunnel. If you suffer from either, get yourself a GOOD chiropractor. And if you’re in Houston, let me know because I’ll hook you up with mine. I used to get headaches on a daily basis but I’m down to about once a week now. It’s incredible!

6.
I still haven’t figured out what’s wrong with my Contact Me tab. Every now and then I’ll get a message from it but it’s pretty random. So let me repeat this: if you need the address for the book swap, leave a comment to tell me to send it. Also, if you have a batch of Ten on Tuesday questions for me, you’ll need to email them to me. If I’ve ever responded to one of your comments, you have my email address. If not, just leave a comment that says, “Email me lady!” and I’ll do it. Or you could just email me at chelsea (at) rootsandrings (dot) com… that works too.

7.
I have an exciting weekend ahead of me. Mardi Gras parades begin in Galveston this weekend so my family is going to go to a few. We’ll stay at my parents’ beautiful house down there and celebrate my SIL’s birthday. On Sunday, Stephen and I are going to drive halfway across the state of Texas to watch the game eat good food with Lauren and Michael. Which probably means I’m going to be exhausted on Monday and be dying for another weekend.

I’ll leave you with a picture of my beautiful niece! (Oh and my brother and sister-in-law. They are beautiful too!)

Seven Quick Takes – I’ve Lost Count So You’ll Get More Random Titles Now

I love Quick Takes Friday – it allows me to compile all my random bits into a nice package I can give you. You’re welcome. Click the logo below to visit my Quick Takers.

1.
I feel that I should address this, even though I don’t want to. I’d rather make you squirm and email me with winky faces. I’ve been on a guest post kick lately because I know so many talented, funny people. Each guest blogger is allowed to write about whatever they wish and promote their blog however they want. John is an almost-daddy who writes about almost-daddy things. So that’s what his guest blog was about. But if you want to think otherwise, be my guest. I can out-wink you any day.

2.
I’m making a dark chocolate cheesecake tonight. Tomorrow I’m going to Lauren’s house to hang out in our PJ’s and drink wine and eat cheesecake. Doesn’t it sound like bliss? She rented Shop Around the Corner and swore she wouldn’t watch it without me. I’m super excited!

3.
I don’t want to talk about how much laundry I need to do this weekend. See. This is me… not talking about it.

4.
I’m considering taking a knitting class or a sewing class. I can’t do both because I just don’t have that much time in my day to devote to two different hobbies. I think knitting has a great appeal because you can take it with you. But sewing seems fun because you can do more with it. But then there’s the whole problem of not having a sewing machine. So now, you see, I’m confused.

5.
Last night I made this spaghetti sauce I saw on Smitten Kitchen. It’s just canned tomatoes, butter, and onion. Everyone swears it’s the best. So I thought I’d give it a go. My review? Delicious taste, a bit runny. I think next time I’ll add an extra can of tomatoes but DRAIN it so there is less juice.

6.
Normally I’d show you a picture of Avery right now since I saw her last night. But I was a bad aunt and didn’t take any pictures. I will now put myself in the corner.

7.
If you still need the address for the Book Swap, use the Contact Me tab at the top. Or just leave a comment in this post and I’ll email it to you. Make sure you read through the Book Swap tab to learn all the details. You should participate because you have the chance to get a book from my very cool aunt. Wouldn’t that be fun? I’ve heard from a few of you that you are waiting on Amazon to ship your book. Please let me know if you need me to push the date back a bit. I have no problem doing that if it means that more of you can participate. I bought my book at Half Price earlier this week. It’s chick lit fluff!

Seven Quick Takes – I’m Back!

After a 6-8 week Quick Takes break for the giveaway blogapalooza, I’m back. And I’m aware that I owe you the winners of the address label giveaway. I’ll get that done over the weekend, you know, to make sure you come back on Monday.

1.
I don’t know if I have ever been more excited for a Saturday in my life. I’m exhausted and dying for a morning with no alarm clock. I get to have a triple date with Lauren from Texas and Kapachino and our husbands, which is pretty great.

2.
Yesterday a guy in my office was talking to me and said, “The CFO… Chief Financial Officer, that’s what that means” in a very condescending tone. Do I really look like an idiot? Besides the fact that I went to an awesome school, I am a human being. A grown up. Who the heck doesn’t know what CFO means??? Always always assume people know what CFO stands for. If they don’t, they’ll google it.

3.
Can you believe that I still haven’t finished Wuthering Heights? I set it down sometime around Christmas and have yet to pick it up again. So far, the story is okay. Not great. If it were great, I wouldn’t have set it down. So, to those of you who haven’t read it, take that for what it’s worth!

4.
The sound on my computer at work is broken which pretty much means I get so bored and annoyed sometimes that I want to pull my hair out one by one. Sometimes a girl needs a little music in her life to block out the menfolk and that bathroom sounds. Which reminds me! My sister came to visit me at work the other day. Upon entering my office, she said, “Wow! You really are right across from the bathroom!” So, yeah. I’m not lying.

5.
How often is too often to wear my skinny jeans and cute boots? See the thing is that I dress casually to work every day. If I wore skinny jeans and my boots, I would get a lot of attention and they’d think I was going to a job interview during my lunch hour. So I typically wear jeans, a t-shirt, and tennis shoes. But tomorrow night I’m going out to dinner (as I’ve already told you) and then Sunday evening I’m going to dinner with my trendy friend Kelly and a friend of ours from college. I plan to sport my boots both night. But now I feel like that’s all I wear.

6.
Did y’all enjoy the guest post? I certainly hope so because I’ve got another one coming next week from a different blogger- one you probably don’t know yet! Sometimes I go through phases where I think that my writing is crap. So instead of throwing crap on the screen, I beg someone else to fill my corner of the internet with something funny.

7.
That’s pretty much all I’ve got for you. If it would make you feel better, I’ll post a photo of Avery! She’s not a big fan of cameras but she was trying to give us a good smile.

Seven Quick Takes (vol.15)

Time for seven more bits of random. Need more than seven? Head over to Conversion Diary to read more.

7_quick_takes

1.
The Google is buzzing with people wondering if Daniel and Rebecca are dating. Let’s go ahead and assume yes. The Google is also buzzing with people wondering if Bob and Amanda are dating. While they seem to be extremely close, I don’t think so. I think Bob probably isn’t interested in that particular gender. Do we agree on that? If you have another theory, I’d love to hear it.

2.
Remember when Nationwide dumped us? It was a case of the “it’s not you, it’s me” except that we knew that wasn’t true. It was us. Well we had a talk yesterday and came to terms with everything. They told us that it’s not that they don’t love us but their parents just won’t allow them see to us anymore. But they think we’re great and they want us to be happy. So they set us up on a few dates with some of their friends that they think are worthy. And they let us pick our new relationship. We made the transition last night. It went smooth. No tears, no drama.

3.
I finished Redeeming Love yesterday during lunch. Wow. Great great book. Great story, great message. It sucked me in and I didn’t want it to end… ever. Have you ever had a book like that? Now on to Wuthering Heights.

4.
I ordered my Christmas cards this week. We are trying to cut costs so I was wondering if I should send them this year. I have to though, I just love Christmas cards! I ordered a custom 4×6 design from Blogalicious Designs (<– that’s a link) and opened a new Shutterfly account to get 50 free prints. Then I ordered envelopes on Amazon since NOBODY sells envelopes for 4×6 photos. It turned out to be pretty cheap! I can’t wait to get the photos in, they are going to be so cute! (For the record, Snapfish is better than Shutterfly. They are cheaper and they have a much quicker turn around. If you want to open a Snapfish account, let me know so I can send you an invite. I think we both get free prints that way!)

5.
So I’m sitting here in my living room. It’s currently Thursday night and we just finished watching 30 Rock and CRACKED up. We changed the channel and as we started watching something on the travel channel about monorails, we heard a screaming. More like a high pitched gaggling gurgling screech. We muted the television and stared at each other. It kept going. I ran to the window, Stephen ran outside with a broom and a flashlight. He listened around and pointed the light in the direction of the noise. It stopped. It’s been about 20 minutes and it hasn’t come back. He obviously scared some squirrels or some other critters that were fighting. Or… uh… mating. We aren’t sure. Either way, we think we’ve pissed them off.

6.
All I want to do is make crock pot meals. I don’t want to go to work or hang out with anyone. I just want to make lots and lots of crock pot meals all day, every day. I’ve been inspired! I imagine that many of these are great freezable meals. You all know how much I love a good freezable meal! I may make large amounts in my crock pot the next couple weeks and freeze portions. Oh goodness, now I’m excited!! Stocked freezers tickle me pink!

7.
I don’t have a number 7. Whenever I need to fill space without feeling guilty about telling you nonsensical things, I show you pictures of babies or dogs. Today, babies. This is my cousin’s baby, Sophie. You’ve met her before. The first picture is just her being stinking cute with a bandana on her head. The second is the best baby Halloween costume in the entire world.

Seven Quick Takes (vol.14)

It has been a LONG week. I’m pretty excited about my weekend. I only have one thing on my planner and it doesn’t involve setting an alarm. There is nothing better than an alarmless Saturday morning!

As always, visit Conversion Diary for more Quick Takes.

7_quick_takes

1.
Stephen’s parents bought him the Lego Star Wars game for the Wii. This is good for many reasons. He said, “This is so cool” about 7 times within the first 2 minutes of playing. He is forced to sit up while he plays, which means his face won’t swell. It keeps his mind off the pain. He always breathes through his mouth when he plays video games (don’t ask) and since he has to breath out of his mouth anyways, he doesn’t notice or complain about it.

2.
I’ve been having a lot of typos lately. Spell check doesn’t catch those. But you do. And, uh, thanks… I guess. I write posts every day so the odds that there are a few errors are pretty high. I suppose I could write less often and spend more time proofing my posts, but that just doesn’t seem reasonable. So you’re just going to have to deal. Deal?

3.
I forgot to get two important items at the grocery store on Sunday. In all fairness, I didn’t really forget them since they weren’t even on my list. I just never wrote them on the list. I thought I knew the recipes by memory so I wrote down what I thought I’d need. I was wrong. One was for the meal I planned to make Monday, one was for the meal I planned to make Thursday. This is really messing up my meal planning. Good thing my husband isn’t demanding any good food this week! (I just reread this and it’s so dumb. Why do I feel like you need to know this??)

4.
Tonight I saw an Old Navy commercial that said that all outerwear is 50% off this weekend and on Saturday scarves are $1. Holy moly! On an entirely unrelated note, my birthday is in 11 days. Also on an unrelated note, click here and here and here and here.

5.
So Stephen can’t smile right now, it hurts his face. Imagine you were sliced open underneath your nose and it was stitched back together. Now smile. Feel how it pulls that area?? Yeah so last night we watched The Office and he had to walk out of the living room 3 times because he laughed and it hurt his face. Then 30 Rock came on. He lasted about 2 minutes and started laughing. He yelled and went to our bedroom. During the next commercial break I went to our room to get some socks for my freezing toes and I found him curled up in bed watching Fox News.

6.
Also click here and here and here and here.

7.
I’ve got this stew in the crock pot. I can’t wait to get home and smell the deliciousness in my house! Although I’m a little nervous because I used a different wine. I usually use one called Cowtown Red from D’Vine Wine but we’re out. Hopefully it’s just as delicious.

Have a great weekend, y’all! Any fun plans?

Seven Quick Takes (vol.9)

Can you believe I’ve been doing this for 9 weeks? Can you believe that you keep coming back even though you KNOW I’m going to tell you seven useless things? Yeah, me neither.

7_quick_takes

1.
All day yesterday I thought it was Wednesday. Each Thursday I’m responsible for posting (not writing) a new devotion on the women’s ministry blog for my church. As I was closing down my computer at work yesterday evening I thought, “I suppose I could go ahead and schedule it.” Two seconds later I realized it was Thursday already and I was 8 hours late. I’m so responsible that I shock even myself.

2.
Yeah, hi J. Crew. Why are your dresses so expensive?

I have a few weddings to go to this winter and I think I’d like a new dress. All three weddings are from different areas of my life, so I think it may be appropriate to wear the same dress to all three weddings. I was thinking about a gray, knee-length dress. Maybe wool. If you see something let me know. I’m not very good at shopping unless it involves Target, Half Price Books, or Old Navy.

3.
I recently read a blog that discussed getting what you want. People often say, “Oh I wish I could _______.” In her case, people often said, “Oh! You are so lucky that you get to live in Europe. I wish I could live in Europe for a few years.” To which she answers, “Why don’t you?”

So simple. But really, so true.

I wish I knew what blog this was because I’d give you the link. One part I really loved was that she said that so many people get involved with a million different projects, hoping that they’ll find happiness in at least one of them. Just figure out what you really want and pursue it. If you wish you could cook, learn to cook. If you wish you could sew, learn to sew. If you wish you could lose weight, lose weight. Don’t avoid the thought process of figuring out what it is that you’d like to pursue. It’s that easy.

Only it’s not.

4.
This Sunday on my weekly grocery shop, I plan to get a bottle of pumpkin spice creamer. I normally drink my coffee black. Pumpkin spice creamer is the only exception I make. Plus, I can’t afford to spend $4+ on pumpkin spice lattes. I need something pumpkin flavored to convince myself that it actually is fall.

5.
I’m “one of those” people who get their Christmas shopping done early. I don’t believe in being stressed out the week before Christmas, that makes me lose focus of what Christmas is all about. It also makes me broke. So for the sake of my sanity and my bank account, I start early. If you know of any great Etsy stores or unique websites, tell me the links! I think I’ve asked this before and got ZERO responses. I probably made the mistake of asking two questions in the same post.

Speaking of two questions… if you can handle it, add two words to your comment. I got 9 submissions yesterday but since all of them are TOO HARD I’m welcoming more.

6.
Last night my fingers were swollen from being hot and eating salty foods so I took off my rings. I have to do this because I have a band on both side of my engagement ring and it hurts my sausage fingers to have all three on. After The Office, Stephen was flippng around the television while I was working on this and that movie with Diane Keeton came on. I think it’s called “Something’s Gotta Give.”

C: I like this movie. You don’t, right?
S: No. I don’t. I don’t like watching old people have sex.
C: Well I like it. She’s a writer in a big house with big windows on the beach. I like that.
S: But she’s single.
C: So?
S: Put your ring back on.

So I did. But I just put my engagement ring on because it was too uncomfortable to wear all three. I put the others in my “secret hiding spot” and forgot to put them back on this morning. ALL OF THAT to say that I’m only wearing my engagement ring today. It’s kind of fun.

7.
I’m on this new kick where I want to learn stuff. Weird, I know. I don’t really want to take a class or anything, I just want to learn new sweet skills. I have to be conscious not to “put my hand in too many projects, hoping to get happiness out of one of them” but instead “begin the thought process of figuring out what it is that I want to pursue.” Like pie. I think I’d like to make a pie with homemade crust. I should probably stop saying, “I’d really like to do that” and start actually doing it.

I’m reading a John Piper book called “Don’t Waste Your Life.” For those of you who are familiar with Piper, you know that he’s not a simple beach read. He writes quality Biblical stuff and you must have a pen in your hand to read it. But I’m enjoying it because I’m in this learning mood.

That’s is y’all. That’s 7 quick takes. I feel like this week was especially lacking.

Seven Quick Takes (vol.4)

7_quick_takes

1.
No intro today. I’m too tired for an intro. (You can click the picture above if you want to see more Seven Quick Takes or add your own to the list.) Two nights in a row of very, very little sleep. I have this issue where I can’t sleep if I’m busy, stressed, or have something on my mind. It’s a terrible problem to have. We have an event tonight at church and I’m in charge of games and prizes. Turns out, that’s a lot of work. I love it and enjoy it but it’s hard to work full-time and then pull together the pieces at the end. Thankfully my mom doesn’t work and she’s able to work on my to-do list during the day.

Last night we went up to the church to help set up a bit. Then we went back to her house to decorate cupcakes and brownies for the Cake Walk. They turned out amazing!! Look how cute these little cupcake boxes are!

Yeah, I know. Precious. I was on Box Constructing Duty while my mom was on Cupcake Decorating Duty.

My mom said that under no circumstance did she want to be in any picture that may end up on my blog because she hadn’t done her hair or makeup and she’d been in the kitchen all day. But I’m sneaky. I caught her in the back ground of the brownie lollipops.

Let’s just take a second to talk about how cute my mom is in her trendy pink glasses. And how cute those brownies are!

I saw a woman in traffic yesterday who had those really fluffy, thick seat covers. We are in Houston, lady. Unless you are using that as a sponge to soak up the sweat on your thighs, I don’t see the point.

A few months ago I had full intentions of throwing a Pampered Chef party. A friend of my sister-in-law sells. I know we’re all pretty poor but you can’t be a successful wife without their pizza stone! And maybe their garlic press. And mandoline. So I was going to host a party so that we could get the goods and be well on our way to impressing our husbands. But I scheduled the date in the summer and one by one, my guests emailed me saying they couldn’t come. Then something came up and I couldn’t come. I’m going to give it another shot.

So to any of my Houston girls that read this, let me know if you’re interested. Many of you will be getting Evites regardless. I’d post this on facebook but my status is too occupied with the link to my blog. Anyways, if you’ve never been to one, it’s one of those Bucket List things. Right after “Vacation in Hawaii” and “Go to Europe.” It’s that important.

I need your help. I have been asked by a friend to devote a blog post to “ways to cook fish.” But the problem is that I don’t eat fish. I think it tastes like licking the bottom of the ocean. So can you help?

5.
If you read through yesterday’s comments you’ll see one that says this: “Gosh, I love how you tie things together so intricately. It makes me want to give you two words and see if you can write a post that ties the two of them together. You up for the challenge? Haha!”

I think this challenge is intriguing. I usually have no problem making connections between events that happened to me. I’m not sure if I can write about something that I don’t have experience with. However, Samantha, I’m up for it! If any of you want to participate, leave two words in the comments. I’ll randomly select a set of words next week and attempt to write something. I’m sure that what I’ll come up with will be complete crap, but maybe it’ll have a bit of entertainment value in it.

6.
I’m not setting an alarm tomorrow morning. This thrills me.

7.
I just thought you all might want to see another picture from our cooking day last Saturday. It was a long day. For some reason we thought it would be cute to take a picture of me holding pasta. And then Lauren misspelled “tuna”…
